Jeremy Lin hints at retirement after scary head injury

Jeremy Lin’s basketball career could be over after he suffered a scary head injury during a Sunday game in Taiwan.

The former New York Knicks sensation was elbowed in the face by former Brooklyn Net Chris McCullough and hit the back of his head on the court during the second quarter of the Kaohsiung 17LIVE Steelers’ 92-89 loss to the New Taipei Kings.

Lin walked off the court with team staff on his side and was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

Lin said postgame that he likely suffered a concussion and likely would recover in a week or two, according to a report from Focus Taiwan

The Steelers’ defeat ended their season, and possibly Lin’s playing days.

“I can’t promise that I will continue to play ball next year,” Lin said after the game, according to Focus Taiwan. “This is something that is decided year by year.”

The 34-year-old Lin’s NBA career began in 2010, but he exploded on the scene during the 2012 season in his brief time with the Knicks when he made several game-winning shots and highlight-reel plays.

Lin averaged 14.6 points and 6.2 assists and played 26.9 minutes per game during his 35-game stint with the Knicks.

The undrafted Harvard product also played 37 games with the Nets between 2016-2018.

Lin’s final season in the NBA was in the 2018-19 season when he played 23 games with the Toronto Raptors.

He went overseas to play in the Chinese Basketball Association in 2021 before heading to the Taiwan P. League earlier this year.

Lin averaged 26 points and nine assists on 49 percent shooting over 18 games for the Steelers this season.
