This is a compicated trade. It is an overpay but what we gain is backup for when OG gets injured. We improve on Bogeys defense and athletic ability a lot. We make a lot of our team happy because we got their friend. Maybe this pushes Brunson to sign extention early. If we can re-sign OG and iHart I am good with the team. We still lack a playmaker off the bench but no team is perfect. I am good with the trade but it means this is going to be our team for years to come. We need to make sure we bring iHart and OG back. We lose one/two of them this changes things drastically.
Edit: Also I think our window to trade for the last big https://x.com/FredKatz/status/1805795050997129522 was closing due to our rising cap numbers. So might be why we gave up a lot to get it done now. |

There is zero territory that the Knicks FO is thinking anything other than resigning him. I just wonder if the fact that OG declined his option drove Rose to go this route, as in, we're letting OG go and replacing him with Bridges. Looking at the cap situation, renouncing OG, Burkes and Prescious probably lets us retain iHart and stay under the 1st apron. I know Og and his plus/minus impact, but dude is never healthy and I can't imagine paying $40m for that kind of player. |
