Isles, based on reports it almost seems the Mobley is concerned also about his health and seems that doing this right is a priority. Knicks are on the hook for this one and since they accepted the deal the insurance company might not cover it as its a prexisting condition.

I'd be curious to know if Mobley is concerned about his condition or about the Knicks putting an end to his career prematurely. From what I read, Mobley insisted on seeing the doctor in Minnesota, perhaps to prove that his condition hasn't changed or isn't as serious as the Knicks are making it seem and he should be allowed to continue his career.

That doctor is the one Curry refused to see out of fear that that doctor would put an end to his career.

Knick guard Cuttino Mobley has met with a heart specialist in Minneapolis - the same one which teammate Eddy Curry refused to visit during his dispute with the Chicago Bulls which resulted in the sign and trade to New York, the New York Post is reporting.

One source said Mobley has mulled taking a medical retirement, depending on the results of the series of heart tests. However because this was a preexisting condition it is unclear if he has the standard insurance stipulations in his contract.

"It's a tough call," the source said. "I'm pretty sure (he) doesn't want to take chances if it's really that serious. It's a tough situation. The most important thing is him and his health."

YAHOO says it's true:

The New York Knicks have agreed in principle to send power forward Zach Randolph to the Los Angeles Clippers, two league sources said Friday afternoon.

The Clippers would send Tim Thomas and another player who’s still unclear —- Marcus Camby or Cuttino Mobley – to the Knicks for Randolph and guard Mardy Collins.

After trading Jamal Crawford to the Golden State Warriors for Al Harrington on Friday morning, the Knicks would’ve cleared approximately $27 million in salary cap space for the summer of 2010 when their obsession, Cleveland’s LeBron James, can become a free agent.

Randolph will be making $17.3 million and Crawford, $10.1 million, in 2010. For the Knicks, this would create significant flexibility as that historic free agent class of James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh hits the market.

After dealing Jamal Crawford to the Warriors for Al Harrington, the Knicks are working on a trade that would land Zach Randolph in Dallas.

Jerry Stackhouse has expressed a desire to be traded but his contract is half the value of Randolph's deal.

Unless another player is thrown into the trade, there is a possibility that the Knicks will recruit a third team to make the Randolph deal work.

The Clippers, however, are still hoping to acquire Randolph for Tim Thomas and Cuttino Mobley.

ESPN confirms: Crawford for Harrington agreed to in principle. No other players involved so far.

Warriors, Knicks agree in principle on Crawford-Harrington deal

By Marc Stein

Updated: November 21, 2008, 12:36 PM ET

The Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks have agreed in principle on a deal that would swap disgruntled Warriors forward Al Harrington for Knicks guard Jamal Crawford.

ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher reported early Friday that the teams were nearing completion on a deal featuring Harrington and Crawford. ESPN.com has since confirmed that those two players, barring a late adjustment, would be the only two involved in the trade.

Although neither team has yet commented on the deal, sources said both clubs were hoping to reach the conference-call stage to secure the required league approval by the day's end on Friday.

Harrington went public with a trade demand just before the start of the season after privately urging Golden State to move him for months. New York had immediate interest, seeing the versatile and mobile Harrington as an ideal frontcourt fit in new coach Mike D'Antoni's up-tempo system.
Deal Or No Deal?
See how the proposed Jamal Crawford-Al Harrington deal looks in the ESPN.com NBA Trade Machine.

Knicks president Donnie Walsh, furthermore, might be Harrington's biggest fan in the league; he drafted the 28-year-old in 1998 and brought him back to Indiana in a deal with Atlanta in the summer of 2006. But Harrington's second stint with the Pacers lasted only a half-season before he was dealt to Golden State in January 2007, along with Stephen Jackson.

Reuniting with Harrington will come at a cost for Walsh: It will require the Knicks to part with Crawford, their leading scorer and another player they had pegged to flourish under D'Antoni. The Warriors, according to NBA front-office sources, see Crawford as a versatile guard who, although not a pure floor leader, can function well in coach Don Nelson's system while Monta Ellis recovers from ankle surgery -- and in tandem with Ellis once he returns.

Yet it's believed that Walsh has multiple motivations for re-acquiring one of his favorites. Another sizable lure is Harrington's contract, which pays him $9.2 million this season, $10 million next season and expires after the 2009-10 campaign. That meshes with New York's intent to slice payroll and get as far under the salary cap as possible for the highly anticipated free-agent summer of 2010 to join the bidding for Cleveland's LeBron James.

Crawford is scoring 19.6 points per game this season after averaging a career-best 20.6 points per game and 5.0 assists last season. Assuming Crawford declines a player option to become a free agent in July 2009, his deal would run through the 2010-11 season, paying $8.6 million this season, $9.4 million in 2009-10 and $10 million in 2010-11.

Harrington has played only five games this season, averaging 12.4 points and 5.6 rebounds before missing Golden State's past six games with a back injury. Nelson told ESPN.com on the first weekend of the season that the Warriors would "try to accommodate" Harrington, but not when the Knicks were looking to part with center Eddy Curry as opposed to Crawford.

3 Team Deal?

http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/basketball/knicks/blog/2008/11/threeway_deal.html

Just heard this seconds ago...

The Knicks, Warriors and Clippers are talking about a three-way deal that would involve Jamal Crawford, Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins being sent in a cap-space clearing move that would bring in Tim Thomas, Cuttino Mobley and Al Harrington.

The contracts on all three incoming players expire in 2010.

Trying to confirm this now.

Stay tuned . . .

HOLY CRAP IF THIS IS TRUE THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!

Walsh would redeem himself BIG TIME from all the hate he got for not dropping Randolph over the summer! (Yeah, I was one who was ticked off that didn't happen)

Damn, now the anticipation is murdering me!!!

Okay, so....this is a more believable source over any other source or any one person's opinion how? (this is kinda what I mean about the media).

Now, while I will agree these guys are likely happy not having to play with him on the court, I still maintain that while Marbury is here his black cloud is still here and I find it hard to believe everyone is able to pretend he doesn't exist. I'd believe it if he were sitting at home awaiting a resolution (which he should be) but when he's still here I can't see how his presence can be ignored.

I've noticed in the past the only player that seems willing to sit near him or talk to him during timeouts or warmups - is Roberson. Nobody else wants anything to do with him. Now, I'm not saying the team is in upheaval over his being here but I am maintaining that his existence is a negative one and you just can't ignore it all.

And, again, isn't that kind of a pain in the ass? *Ah, Marbury is sitting there, okay, I'll make sure to go sit over here instead!*

????

Anyways, it's bound to be resolved soon. Hahn, a writer you give credit to (yes, I'm stirring the pot, LOL ), has piped up today:
As the Knicks try to distance themselves from their laughingstock days, one tragicomedy continues to engage the NBA. The latest in the "Free Starbury" movement comes from the Celtics' Sam Cassell, who said the Knicks' decision to keep Stephon Marbury inactive is "bad for the league."

"They really need to get that thing resolved," Cassell said Tuesday night before the Knicks' 110-101 loss to the Celtics in Boston. "It doesn't look good for both parties. Steph wants to play and he's better than the guys playing ahead of him. I don't understand it."

Cassell, however, does understand the buyout process. Last season he forfeited half of his salary ($850,000) to be set free by the Clippers so he would be allowed to sign with the Celtics. He went on to win his third NBA championship ring.

Marbury, who hasn't played this season, doesn't have that kind of situation available to him. Unlike Cassell, who had superagent David Falk, Marbury doesn't have an agent. The NBA players association is assisting him in buyout talks with Knicks president Donnie Walsh. Marbury and a union representative met with Walsh a week ago at the MSG Training Center to open discussions. But unlike Cassell, Marbury maintained his stance that he will not give up any of his $21.9-million salary.

The Knicks, said a person with knowledge of the situation, initially considered offering a $15-million settlement to set Marbury free. The sides have not met since. "They need to keep talking and get something done," Cassell said. (The Knicks are owned by Cablevision, Newsday's parent company).

Cassell left the Clippers knowing he was stepping into a special situation. But for Marbury, the opportunities might not be as bountiful or as plentiful. Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said he is a Marbury fan, but a person close to the situation said it would be surprising if Dallas added him to a roster that has Jason Kidd.

Some NBA executives say the Heat, who are shallow at point guard, would seem to be a perfect destination for Marbury. But others wonder if the Heat - like any team - has concerns about adding Marbury to its locker room.

Who will blink first? Will Marbury forfeit some salary to get back on the court, or will the Knicks, if they fall under .500, turn to him for help?

An NBA coach told Newsday that after committing to moving on without Marbury, Mike D'Antoni "can't turn back now."

Notes & quotes: The Mavericks' Jerry Stackhouse took a swipe at a few Knicks when he reacted to Rick Carlisle's decision to sit him for matchup reasons Sunday in Dallas' overtime win at the Garden. Stackhouse told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that Jamal Crawford, Quentin Richardson and Wilson Chandler are "scared to guard me" in summer pickup games.

The Knicks can' beat either Dallas or basten-bastards.

Damn....you are back on the "all is well" bandwagon in a hurry ain'tcha?

Will it rip your heart out if they don't finish the season at .667? I would think everyone, every fan, from the most optimistic, to the most pessimistic, would give it some more time here before declaring anything a success or failure.

Give it some bench marks. I've got some: End of November: 16 games in the books. Then, End of December. Then, All-Star Break.

Not game to game... 1-2 omg the sky is falling. 6-3 holy crap we're going to win 51 games... ETC (you know what I'm alluding to...just being overly dramatic to make the point here).

I'm so over and done with being sucked into each and every loss and victory. I'll surely comment game to game but no "final analysis" will accompany any single game. Just observations.

End of November: 16 Games.
End of December: 30 Games.
All-Star Break: 52 Games Complete.

Take it from each one forward! Why? Small samples of games never work.

We could be 8-8 after 16.
We could be 14-16 after 30. (check the sched no more cakewalk!)
We could be 22-30 after 52 Games. (again, check that schedule, cakewalk is done!)

In fact, yeah, barring any ridiculous trade out of left field that is amazing, that's my "official" prediction. Bookmark it if you will, I'll forget it lol.

he was definitely Isiah's best pick along w/D Lee.

Nate was a pretty good pick aswell. Officially Pho made the pick, but I'm sure they made the pick for Isiah due to the trade...

MDA always liked Nate, i think it was their pick & probably Isiah liked him as well.

[Edited by - TMS on 11-15-2008 3:22 PM]

Nate was picked at our request - it was a draft day trade.

2005-06-28 ---- Knicks ----Acquired: Quentin Richardson, rights to Nate Robinson, cash ---- Traded: Kurt Thomas, rights to Dijon Thompson ---- trade with Suns

Here's a VERY interesting path that Nate's pick took though! Never knew this!

Patrick Ewing Jr. popped his head out of the locker room door at the Knicks' practice facility Saturday in full view of reporters, one of whom asked, "What up, Junior?"

"Oh, just working out," he said, dressed from head to toe in team blue practice gear.

Uh-huh.

We call it getting ready to re-up with the team that cut him last month once it does something with Stephon Marbury or someone else.

Junior (who also attended Friday's game against Oke City to visit old Georgetown teammate Jeff Green) said he hasn't made any commitment to play elsewhere, either overseas or in the Developmental League. And either he hasn't gotten an offer from another NBA team (which he'd be foolish to forego) or he's gotten a promise from the Knicks.

We're going with the promise.

Exactly. The +/- stats are so subjective. Which is why anytime anyone mentions 82games.com I want to choke them to death.

You want a GOOD site? A site that shows you a team's runs and the lineups in at the time? A site you can judge for YOURSELF that during a run or an opponents run a player/lineup/etc was the reason for it?

Well, here it is, bookmark it, love it, learn it.

game flows

Click on a game. Then, you can mouseover anything on the chart anywhere and a window pops up with even more detailed info.

THIS is what you need to pay attention to!

uh, the game flow thing is cool, but it's basically expanded plus minus.

i don't think any stats really do basketball complete justice, but +/- is not a useless tool.

It's much more detailed. You can ignore the +/- because they actually show you little bits of the game along the entire way... where crap like 82games, or fantasy sites, or yahoo - just give you one wild cumulative +/-.

This site LETS YOU decide for yourself. Rather than just TELLING you a player is a + or -.
