This is a player that would want to play in the triangle. He could average close to a triple double. The offense would go through him.
He already averages 5 assists with Chris Paul and 8 rebounds with Deandre Jordan on his team. Blake & KP are a perfect match together as well. With KP on the perimeter, Blake would have paint to himself.
Also our defensive rebounding issues would be solved with Blake.

A sign & trade involving Melo in the off-season (especially if Blake wants to come here) is not
far-fetched.

I think Clippers have to decide their direction and who to resign. Paul and griff are free agents. Clippers might have hit a wall. Is Rivers still want to coach, be GM? Paul want to stay or chase a ring with another team? Griff with his injuries worth Max money?

Are they on the upswing or on the way down?

A few seasons ago, I thought it might be possible to trade Melo for Griffin... now, not so much.

I think they keep Griffin... I think they keep CP3, too, and try to add Melo this summer. I think we'll see the Clippers try one last re-load. It doesn't make sense to rebuild for them now, they don't control their own picks for a while.

Dude, stop stalking me...

Bring it up again bc clippers are at a crossroads and Blake can be a superstar in NY. Also it appears Melo would be more inclined to leave for LA.

Blake played his best ball without Chris Paul bc he was the focal point of the offense.

Basically he could put Lebron type #'s in triangle.

The last player to average a triple double in a season was Oscar Robertson. Griffin is a good player, but he's not Oscar Robertson.

The last player in the modern era who might have had a chance at it was Jason Kidd.

IF, and it's a big IF, Griffin had the skill set and opportunity to average a triple double in a full season, the league would never let it happen. Guy gets away with flopping and free contact at a rate only reserved for the leagues most marketable players. Operating at basically a historic level would only hyper focus how rigged the officiating is in the game. At this point, the refs had just decided to stop calling fouls against LBJ at all. Why bother. Why risk giving him two quick fouls because he's earned them, then watch him sit out parts of an early quarter and then have the league take your ref job from you. They would literally fire a ref during the game if they could get away with it in this circumstance.

IF the Clippers wanted to trade Griffin, they could get a higher return than Melo. If the Clippers want Melo, they could pay far less to get him.

What never gets discussed about free agents or soon to be free agents is the impact that their representation has on them. Rich Paul, LBJ's agent, is credited for basically single handedly bringing LBJ back to Cleveland. Nike and the league made sure he got his free ring too.

Steve Balmer did not pay 2 billion to buy a soon to be gutted team. If on the rare lark that Paul and Griffin both leave money on the table, the next lottery the Clippers are in, they will win the first pick.

This league is so predictable. Who can sell the most shoes? Who can sell the most cheeseburgers? Who can fill a highlight reel, even if it's not fundamentally sound basketball. Who cares. If the guy looks good in a commercial, then literally do everything possible to just hand the guy a free ring.

Griffin will never be a Knick.

TripleThreat I agree with many of the points you made. But Blake Griffin will be a free agent and his representation can put him NY (away from Chris Paul & D.Jordan State Farm commercials) where he would be the #1 star (meaning for his brand) Let's not forget NBA wants the Knicks to be good again.
Unfortunately we have a clown owner that prevents this from happening.

Blake could use a change of scenery (after fight with clipper employee and being out injured).
His arrival, along with a promising rookie from the draft will finally put the Knicks in the right direction.

The biggest fear is if Griffin turns into Antonio McDyess.
