Some here believe that we have no shot at landing Crawford.... well they are wrong. I'm just gonna restate what other Knicks fans have been saying, if we offer Craw the MLE for 6 years, Chicago probably won't match. According to the Chicago Tribune, we actually have the best shot at landing Crawford...

Contrary to what some Knicks fans believe, we are not stuck with this team and even if we are we can improve a lot internally. However, saying that we have no shot at some of the restricted FA's is just ridiculous. NY is one of the most if not the most attractive place to play basketball and we just so happen to have a superstar PG on our team along with a HOF coach, why wouldn't players want to come here? Using the same logic with Jamal Crawford we could also say that if we offer someone like Stromile Swift the MLE at 6 years then Memphis might hesitate to match and might even let him go. Memphis doesn't have the freedom financially that we have and they might be saving up money to land a superstar in the free agency. They might not want to make that big of a committment to one of their bench players.

We have already heard that Chicago has interest in Kurt so lets say we do a sign and trade with them for Crawford, and then using the MLE we can offer it to Erik Dampier or Stromile Swift. Doing that would not only make our team a lot better, but it gives us more valuable assets which is basically Isiah's goal. The whole point of this thread is just to show some of the pessimistic Knick fans that we will only get better with Isiah here. He didn't come here to just make the Knicks a mediocre team, he came to make us a championship team. So far I would have to say that he has been doing a great job and I hate hearing all of that crap about how he added salary. Who cares? We have the money to do it so why not use it? Yes, it will keep us from signing a big time free agent but if we have the valuable assets we can always do a Sign and Trade. Just because we have no cap room doesn't mean its the end of the world. Lets just wait and see what Isiah does this year before we crucify him. He has done a great job so far and I don't see any reason why he won't continue doing that.

dont believe the chicago tribune espn insider or the ny papers because its all the writers opinion trying to get publicity. if you notice its the same guy who makes up trades every single column. i think chicago learned from past mistakes about trading away young players.

I don't really listen to espn insider or any of the new york papers especially, but I haven't really had any problems with the Chicago Tribune so far so I casually read their articles. Again, I'm not saying that we are definitely getting Crawford, I'm just saying that I think we have a very good shot of landing him if we offer the MLE at 6 years because I don't think Chicago would match considering they don't really need him (because of Gordon), they probably don't want to give a bench player that much of a committment, and because they have had so many problems with Crawford already. Crawford isn't even going to their mandatory workouts until he knows what team he will be on. I just think logically, we have a good shot at landing him. I really don't think they want to let him go for nothing so I really do believe that they will do a sign and trade with us. I also don't buy that stuff about having a three-guard rotation, yes it could be beneficial but Crawford has problems coming off the bench and I doubt that Chicago would want to bench their number 3 pick from the draft.

Why does everone assume we will use the MLE, and do it for 6 years.

If we did that that for 5 years in a row, we would have 5 players earning a total of 150 mil over the life of those contracts. Adds up fellas.

Because when you are talking about a RFA, you have to create a deal that the players team won't match. Perhaps the Bulls match a 3 year MLE for the short term, but they might not be willing to fork over that much cash for 6 seasons. Also, it allows you to pay the player more because the annual salary can escalate over the length of the deal.

if this happens our chances our that much greater, considering the money denver has to offer and the fact that this is the other team crawford is considering.

yup thats probably the best chance we have of landing j crossover. we gotta move some f of these dogs on our team. we need roster space more than we need any players at any particular position. we're clogged like a drain full of pubic hair.

Drain with pubic hair...priceless.

Worse comes to worse hopefully Dolan can lose some money and just buy out clowns like Cezary and Othella.

if anyone is an asset, othella is. don't BUY him out, GET him out. trybanski on the other hand, is already bought out in my eyes. unless he can serve as some kind of filler. he IS 7'2.
We have a good shot at Jamal Crawford and other FA's
