What are your opinions regarding JR smith? Ive seen so many ranges i just had to ask
great athletic ability but low low IQ
a knucklehead but im happy hes on our team
still immature but coach woodson will fix that
i try to ignore his off the court issues..as long as he helps us win
hes not perfect but im glad he took less to stay with the knicks

Being a local guy from newark ive always followed his career. Yeah hes streaky but hes fun to watch. Reminds me of my fav all time player...starks
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

"And one" player.
Can fly and cry, but has no brains.
It's OK. People have different abilities.
If used properly he can be serviceble.
But do not expect him to help team win anything serious.
Teams targeting the chip try to stay away from this kind of material.

That's not really true. The Lakers had Artest and Bynum on their last two championships. The Spurs had Stephen Jackson for at least one. All three Pistons championships were full of malcontents including Rodman who won another three with the Bulls. And JR's antics aren't even in the same hemisphere as what a lot of those guys did.

Metta and Rodman were lock down defense guys.

JR is a shot creator.

Great talent and a bone head. The car accident was not cool but thats his cross to bear.

The tweets I don't care about. The "YM" is silly. He is not "young" anymore.

Silly poll choices, there is not choice to say "Don't want him".

We got him as a free agent and not at the cost of another. Im sure Dolan will take good care of him.

Glad he is a knick. He is John Stsrks of his generation.

Your title of the poll was "Love or hate him" yet all your answers are basically the same. Jr has talent but is flawed.

Do not compare the gift of goods with the omelet.
You are talking about on of the best defender in the league who can also score and is a flick athlete an about one of the most promising young centers.
You do take chances with this kind of players not JR.
I have no problem of having him. But I do not see him getting enough shots to have any impact. He is volume shooter and very inefficient one.

Artest isn't that guy anymore and hasn't been for awhile.

JR Smith is from my home town so I have a soft spot for him but he says something about the drinking water here.

He is so freakin talented but can be such a bonehead!

I am still happy he is here because in spurts, he can go crazy.

JR's preferred shot -- not his bailout shot -- is the crossover stepback fadeaway longgg 2pointer, often with plenty of time on the shot clock. Ok, that's a slight exaggeration but he's a knuckleheaded chucker. Sure, he'll get his hot streaks, but he's consistently dumb. Cred though for effort on defense. Such a pity cuz he lets his physical gifts go to waste, just showcased occasionally as highlight plays instead of a consistent game that trades flashy bling for concrete wins. That, and he sucks on Dolan's nut; while his brother sucks the other nut.

rodman had zero offense, he just excel in his role, and thats what we need JR to do..Thats what we need everyone to do.

The problem most fans have is that they want a player to be a all around good play, good character, good defense, good shooter, ect..and thats all good. but reality is, you get the right pieces together to compliment each other then the players weaknesses don't get exposed...

With such a veteren club, and a high IQ pg, 2 main scorers, JR's a perfect fit for this roster, he knows that, which is part of the reason he took less to play here.

I like high efficiency knuckleheads (rodman/bynum)

I don't like low efficiency knuckleheads (JR Smith)

I didn't vote because none of the options are what I think

Rose is not the answer.

John Starks was crazy too.

Every team needs a wild card to keep things loose.

Can't Wait.

I agree a team always needs someone who is fearless, has heart, and believes they can never lose (Starks). But it was very frustrating for me to see him shoot us out of so many games. I think the best way to deal with this is to limit their minutes and have a tight leash.
Rose is not the answer.
