I don't usually stand up at home watching a basketball game when a great play is made but when JR did this dunk I jumped up from my couch and "DAMN HONEY YOU SEE THAT DUNK!" out loud!

Im glad JR is back. He is the modern version of Starks. Flaws and all.

He is a bone head and wild card. Problem is at 3mm its not easy to find a guy who can come off the bench and give you that kind of talent.

I think he must be playing for a longer term deal with us when we have his bird rights.

We'll cross that road when we get to it.

Knicks are long on fulfilling a promise and Unless nobody wanted JR I think thats what is happening:That we made a promise to take care of him.

JR could have received a bigger contract elsewhere. He signed for us on the cheap probably to get a longer deal after this season. However, I'm big on guys like Melo, Felton and JR who want to play here. He has his flaws but for the price I don't think we could have found a better player.

Agree. Also, I really liked the summer league pieces on JR and how much he has helped his brother, stuff from his dad, etc.

JR has elite level athleticism, I am talking lebron, wade, rose type athleticism... the problem is, that his vertical leap is higher than his IQ... the guy is a mental midget.... but he has great ability...

We'll just forget the car accident and his other stuff (arrests, financial trouble etc.)

His father thinks financially he should stay in NY.

He wants to be here. He wants to get paid. His father wants JR to make a lot of money.

Forget the "Wants to be here" stuff. Its a business.

Im tryin gto keep it related to basketball. I want to watch him play basketball not date my daughter.

One things I will say, the Knicks have loyalty, if you're loyal back, to a fault.

I could care less what JR does off the court, as long as he gives his all on the court, which he does.

He has a chance to do special things here, hope he realizes that.

I dont care how desperate he wants to play for us. Heck I would love to play for the Knicks. I am a sucky player for the NBA and wouldnt last 5 minutes and JR Smith is way too inefficient and causes way too many turnovers for my taste. I am well aware of his talent and athleticism. He doesnt live up to it though.

Given that his salary slot could not have been used on any other player, he is still good to have here.

I truly believe woodson is gonna reel him in, and he will play alot better this season.

for one, he won't have to play any playmaking role.

JR is not my ideal type of player... he is talented enough to steal a few games for the Knicks this year. I'm willing to take the the bad with the good. I'd love to hear who a good alternative would have been

JR is an inconsistent player...As a coach you have to know when and how to use him...But that said, what you saw last year is that he will always show up defensively no matter how his offensive game is...That's huge...His defensive was a pleasant surprise...He fits well with this team...He isn't afraid to shoot the ball in big spots...He won't always defer to Melo or Amare...He takes over games in short stints...Where are u going to find that at 2.8 mil per in today's NBA...

He's a pretty good player and i expect big things for him this season...having mike woodson with a lot of veteren players will help, he's alsop matured another yr..dfntly a + in my book..

I think with a lot of roles being defined early we should see a much more relax JR

I think that Woody intends to really take JR under his wing and work on his mental approach. I think Woody is the perfect guy to finally reach JR and get him to take his job seriously. I actually expect good things from JR from here on.

Whether you like him or not that guy has talent. I think that the negative perception of him is overblown and that's typical of people these days. I think that people tend make quick judgement without knowing what someone like J.R. has gone through in his past. No one is perfect but God so until some folks look themselves in the mirror and acknowdledge that they too are just as or even more flawed, there will always be the same stereotypical comments in blogs and nothing will change. It's so easy for some people to put others down and it's so embedded that they don't even realize it. I could never understand why a lot of people do that. It must be for empowerment.

Good call. I actually love the fact that he doesn't defer and isn't afraid. He has the talent to be the number 3 scoring option on this team and be one of the elite 2 guards in the league. He has a very good handle for a 2 guard, exception on the defensive end, pretty good vision, streaky jumper and can get to the hole when is isn't settling. Its inbetween the ears where he's lacking. Hopefully Woodson continues to coach him up....The talent is there, no question...

are you not doing it right here?

YOu know this guys history right? Might want to look at it. Look up the car accident, the law suits, the off court problems he has had.

Nobody denies he is a good kid or his talent. He does stupid things.

Yes, I understand. Comprehension is a gift not bequeathed to all.

I accept your compliment! Thank you.
