I was suprised that at his age he can still play defense, but he certainly was bringing it last night, and I agree that he is probably a better pure pg than Douglas (which is not saying much). I am fine with TD and carter splitting backup PG minutes. We now need a center.

I think AC and TD should be on teh floor at the same time, with TD playing the 2. Would make for a pretty solid defensive backcourt as well.

I'm glad D'Antoni didn't bury Carter on the bench and gave him a shot to make the rotation in a big game.

All I remember is AC's shot over the backboard against us.
And I like how our backcourt is these two guys that are 70 years old combined. TD should learn from these geezers Legalize di NBA

I like him on situational defense but he took some ugly shots at Miami game. If TD not hitting I don't mind him backing up chancey due to his experience.

If you want a combined shooting percentage of 25%. TD when off kills us since he does not stop shooting (akin to J Starks vs Houston - Game 7) and A Carter is just an all around aweful shooter who will keep shooting even though he can't hit a lick. They were not even guarding him last night hoping he will shoot and whadya know - he shot. so here is what phil is thinking ....

I liked Carter's defense but Wade was just blowing by him in the first half , I think Wade missed some tough shot the second half. We can use him for a few minutes depending on match up , I really don't wanna see him and Tony Douglas in the back court that was a little frightening last night.

He has always been a good defender. He's smart backup PG and has always done a good job despite not having great athletic ability. But I'll always hate him from when he was on the Heat back in the day. Was always a thorn in our side.

I think putting a smaller, tougher, defender on Wade was a bit of a surprising way to defend him. Typically teams try to put taller defenders on him... but he typically blows right by 'em. Interesting discovery. Gotta keep that in our back pocket in case we face 'em in the playoffs.

He is a point guard, which is the bottom line. He's not some amazing player. He's a 35 year old veteran looking for one last shot. His FG % isn't good but he will make some plays that Toney doesn't. He's also not a SG so we don't have to worry about Wade blowing by him. He played him well but it was stupid of Mike to put a guy like Carter on Wade. But Carter did a good job sticking with him.

I thought it was a terrible idea during the game to put Carter on Wade. But aparently it could work, at least for short streches. Wade does not post up, and is not a good shooter, so I can see how putting a fast, small guy on him may very well work. I am sure he will learn how to post up if teams start doing that all the time though.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?
