Based on what we've been hearing the past 12 hours with Knicks meeting JJ then possibly Amare right away, then LeBron soon after, it appears like something is starting to make sense. Knicks have a clear idea Bosh is headed to Miami with Wade, which is why meeting with both of them last is formality.

So the plan is, make max offer to JJ and lock him up right away. Have that lined up, whether straight up or for a potential S&T then pitch LeBron on the idea that they already have a star waiting for him to join forces. Chicago's status will still be unclear and Miami will already have something in place, so they Knicks will make a quick move.

In the meantime, they will work a S&T with ATL to try to force a Curry/Chandler package for JJ, take it or leave it. If it happens they either resign Lee or S&T him for someone like Parker.

It's time to make the first move and not spend a couple weeks in uncertainty. JJ is most likely to lock into a deal the quickest and although many of you may not agree that he's the right player, he's the first viable option that makes sense and dramatically improves the Knicks pitch to LeBron and whoever else. So they make offer to lebron and give him a chance to accept, and the backup plan is settle for Amare. It's not the ideal plan, but it's solid and will have a nice impact.

You make a very solid point. That is what it is all about. They are gonna sign JJ quick and make the case to LeBron we have JJ and a S&T is being worked on. Which leaves room for LeBron and another free agent.

Why would Atlanta take on Curry in a S&T? They dont need to.

Well, we could always offer some picks. We didn't trade away 2013 and 2014 yet.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Because Crawford loves him.

wouldnt a s&t imply a 6 year contract for jj? whats atls motive to add the salary (and bad player in ec) in that type of move?

ATL would have Chandler, plus the contract of EC to use at the trade deadline. Why is that such a bad thing for ATL to get instead of getting NOTHING for JJ? This way they get a good young player and a trade chip EXP Contract. Let's not make it sound like this has no value. They could end up getting nothing out of the loss of JJ if they don't sign n trade.

This is exactly the point. Either they take it and are left with a solid young player and an expiring contract, or they decline and we sign JJ straight up leaving atlanta with nothing. It leaves us with plenty of options if atl accepts.

taking curry on early in the fa period doesnt seem to help them though, it cuts into what they have to go and replace jj. would we really want jj at 6 years, cuz that is the implication to me. why would he get into a s&t if it wasnt a 6 year deal?

Good stuff Bro. That makes complete sense to me. Even though I don't like JJ, I like the sound of this deal. Curry and Chandler for jj in a sign and trade...and you still have bread to sign 2 Max guys...

Wish I could fast forward to November and just read the transactions on the official site. Go Donnie go!

It's hard for some to believe our FO isn't stupid and maybe they have a plan and strategic moves in place. They said they've been planning this for 2 yrs and have multiple plans ready.

dudes who the F plays C and PF????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

This league is built on the big man--i dont care what anyone says--look at the history of the nBA

I would pay Lee before I paid JJ who shot 20% in the playoffs!!!!!! Paying JJ the max will backfire so badly that the team will reel for years.

I agree with briggs- i'd rather offer the max to anthony roberson than sign JJ to a deal.

now I do agree, however, that this is what the FO has in mind, but wonder if the S&T scenario could be with Amare?

Briggs, you know that Lee, who I like and would love to have back on the team with the right contract, is not the kind of "big man" that you are talking about. He has virtually become a small forward over the last few years, and is not the kind of player at PF who could have neutralized the size LA was able to put on the floor.

I am not a fan of Johnson, but I think the strategy seems to be that we sign Johnson to let James know that we will do what we have to do to remake the Knicks.

If we sign JJ, I don't think we get LBJ. They are too redundant in their skills. LBJ needs a Big to sign with - Amar'e or Bosh.....or maybe even David Lee and a Big defensive center. LBJ and JJ is not going to happen.

I hear you but I think it is a lot like Pippen and Jordan back in the day. Both had similar skill sets. Jordan was just an alpha dog and Pippin wasn't. So it worked. I can see similarities in a James-Johnson pairing.

Although I have to admit. I think I want Wade over James because he has that killer instinct. LBJ doesn't have that yet, IMO.
