Tonight watching the knicks lose to a bad 4-20 team, my son was sitting on the couch laughing at the knicks the last 3 minutes. He was laughing so hard, he was spitting his desert back into his bowl.. and this is a teenager, not some 4 year old.... As he got up, he said the knicks are not bad, they are just "funny"... They play with such little ball IQ , they bypass being bad and go straight to being funny.. comic relief...

I said, you are right, they are funny, but what is the difference between being "Bad" or "funny".

BAD: You play hard, but you lack the talent to win.

Funny: You have talent to win some games, more than bad teams, but you refuse to play hard..

BAd: You make turnover because you are just not good enough to protect the ball vs superior talent, you will make more forced turnovers than unforced ones..

Funny: you dribble the ball off your feet, you throw the ball away with no pressure, and you attempt passes only a 5 year old with ADD would attepmt.

BAd: You occasionally beat good teams, and more than often lose to other bad teams.. usually in competitive games

Funny: You beat good teams occasionally, and get a size 18 in your colon by bad teams, in blowout losses...

BAd: Down the stretch of close games, execution is often sketchy, but you can tell that a bad team is trying to run the offense, but they often have lapses in judgment, and usuall are just outplayed by superior talent..

funny: you have talent and a game plan. You just chose to do otherwise. sometimes it works, more often it doesn't, you know what works for you, but you rather go one on one, chuck shots, force passes and completely abandone your offense. It ends up in on big, laurel and hardy, three stooges, scooby doo, clip, where it looks like you are trying to lose the game, instead of win... thats funny..

Bad: you miss threes, so you do the smart thing and drive the ball, and you still miss.. that is a bad team..

Funny: you miss threes, and you continue to shoot them at an alarming rate...

Bad: down 2 points in crunch time, you try to run the offense to get a good shot. but because you are bad, you often miss or fail to exeucte... that is fine, you are just bad..

Funny: down 2 in crunch time, do you look for the best available shot? Of course you do, but the best available shot FOR YOU!! forget the fact that a few passes will find the open man, You are going to get yours and damnit, you are not going to let winning the game stand in your way... as a result, you get a shot that looks like you were playing horse with the harlem globetrotters...

Tanking for better draft position is "funny".

I think MDA can coach better at times, but its also a good coach that lets his players learn.

Give Nate the ball and see if he does the right thing. If he does, we invest in him, if not, then let him go.
