in his initial interviews when he got the job, walsh said he had no set style of play or team in mind. he wasn't going to implement a vision and hire a coach for it.

he said that he will hire a coach and give him the players he needs to be successful. and looking at his track record, he started doing this with bird, then isiah then finally carlisle (which transitioned to bird making the decisions).

this hasn't changed now. he brought in a coach who has his own system. and his coach will have heavy heavy input on who walsh acquires...probably the biggest selling point for d'antoni.

so i would anticipate all moves from this point forward will be made b/c d'antoni wants them. so this pick was made b/c that's who d'antoni wanted .

the shoppig of lee is probably b/c d'antoni doesn't like a player like lee in his frontcourt (cant shoot).

so from this point forward, any move made will, imho, be b/c d'antoni wants it.

in addition, he said he was going to get cap flexibility for 2010. this will handcuff his ability to make moves so this might have to become a wait it out game.

this is what he said and this is what he will try to do. time will reveal if this is a good thing or a bad thing...

I think it is a good thing - you need to have a vision for a team and I think for far too long the Knicks have lacked one. Gallinari fits the type of player that D'Antoni likes and I am ok with that if he can make it in the NBA. As far as Lee, why is anyone here ok with the fact that Lee can't shoot? Every player on the court needs to be able to hit the jumper when handed the rock otherwise you become an extreme liabilty on the offensive end, opening up other teamtes to be doubled.

Lee's value is high - I say ship him out and get some draft picks.

A couple things:
While we are all sick of them as a group we have also seen good things from a lot of players on this roster including Nate, Crawford, Lee, Balkman, Chandler, Eddy, JJSkinny, Q and even ZBo/Marbury. I think the league wide perception of this roster is similar to ours.. puke and purge the whole damn thing. I think part of this season has to be an honest evaluation of these guys. Can they play winning basketball, can they be coached, can they adjust adapt and go from there.

Walsh doesnt make bad trades.. he never has. I have no problem with him evaluating this roster in a normal non-Isiah NBA environment before wholesale changes.

DJ nailed it when he asked Knick fans if you cant trust Walsh who can you trust?

On Mike D's influence: Walsh has successfully built different kinds of teams, so I am not worried about that. He's a proven team evaluator and team builder. I have no doubt he will improve this team and turn things around. The only debate is how much and how fast.

That's why this trade with Toronto makes sense, to bring Bargnani to NY:

Walsh should see about getting Marco Belinelli from Golden State as well.
