I really can't understand why Marbury is playing passive at home and at times away. Are the fans, and the Media getting to him or what?

It's like Nate and Jamal or even Q are like the franchise players while Marbury is just a role player.

I think Isiah has asked Franbury to be facilatators for this offense and both are trying to be actual PGs, something neither has done in their careers. Fran's play has been erratic and Marbury's lethargic/confused because of it.

The thing is Isiah is giving Jamal and Nate the green light to shoot. Why not let Marbury? Is Isiah losing faith in Marbury. Or does Isiah believe at this point that Nate and Jamal are just better options?

I think this is accurate. I think they are just struggling to adjust to the role of being a PG and leader. it's natural to struggle with a new role. Especially when you sit out an entire year like those guys did last year.

i think a fair question to ask here is how smart is it to ask players who have zero leadership capability the role of being one?

Marbury has lost a step and some lift on his vertical. 2 years ago he almost never missed layups and always finished strong when he was fouled. Now he struggles to make his layups...

He also comes up short a lot more on his FT's.

I think it's time to face it, Marbury doesnt have it anymore he cant beat guards off the dribble anymore and he has absolutely no confidence in his jump shot. The only time he is a aggrresive at all is when he is playing defense in the post at the shooting guard position.Im afraid to see how many shots he took tonight lol probably like 3... Im so freakin disgusted

Marbury's played more career minutes than Willis Reed, John Starks, Doc Rivers, and about the same as Walt Frazier. He's got a ton of mileage on his legs and is probably done.

i totally agree with TMS, how are u gonna ask Stevie Franchise & Steph to change their games? they are clearly not meant to be role players or passers first. Play to their strengths! Dont try to make them into something they are not.
Play to their strengths and things would be totally different. Steve & Steph play like they have been instructed NOT to take more than 5 shots a game. I mean cmon, since when have u seen steph or stevie pass up a shot? now they dont shoot when they are open! while Jamal is told to shoot anything inside the half court line. i really dont like jamal and nate being the primary focus on offense....have THEM be the energy guys to provide a spark...not the primary.

I think Isiah has asked Franbury to involve others. They are trying to do that but don't know when they should pass and when they should shoot. Classic over thinking for a shooting PG.

That's just silly. You think to start the game he doesn't have enough to be more aggressive. It's his mental approach to the game that is holding him back, not anything physical. I'm freakin 41 with High Blood Pressure about 20 lbs over weight and i can still get by guys 20 years younger than me and i'm only 5-9.5 and I can still get up and touch the rim. He's not that old yet to be done.

The thing is that it's just something he has to mentally adjust his game for. He was actually playing hard on D, it's just that early in games he's looking for others. In fact I think the team is hurt by the fact that we keep trying to get Curry off and he is not converting so many possessions. It's taking the other guys out of the game. i'd just run the offense allowing the Guards and Q to carry the action and let Curry get his in the flow. It's an adjustment that isiah needs to make cuz it's slowing the team down. The team is actually not far off from doing the things it needs to win games. 1-2 from Steph and 2-5 from Francis is obviously too passive, but they're both trying so hard to get the others going. Isiah needs to do more to get them off. Run some pick and pop/roll and clear the paint by getting the bigs to come out and set picks. Open up the floor more like they had been doing in preseason. He seems to be going with a more traditional offense lately and I don't know that it's helping. I believe Isiah is focusing the offense on Curry too much, cuz he's not able to carry that kind of reponsibility.

i watched Steph closely last night... it was all about lack of effort... i watched him coasting up the floor, pass the ball & then go over to the other side of the court & stand there, motionless, doing nothing but watching Jamal or Nate trying to run off picks... he looked completely disinterested... this is our leader.

Possibly if he hadn't taken last year off he wouldn't have that hard a time trying to figure out how to fit in the offense. But that's what happens when you waste a season because you are mad at the coach. He's struggling for one simple reason. He doesn't understand the PG role. Never has because he has never listened to a coach before. If he is not allowed to do whatever he wants with the ball he struggles. The team game is hard to adjust to both physically and mentally, if you've never tried before. Ditto with Francis.

Can they learn? Yes. Will they allow themselves to learn as they get yanked in and out of games? Remains to be seen.

Wear skippy shoes, Marbury gonna play a skippy game.

Every time Marbury looks down at his feet he feels the pull of low income weighing on his mind.

the funny thing is he was very effective for a stretch of games at points last season playing for a coach he despised... it just makes you scratch your head why this guy simply can't carry that out over the course of a full season.

Don't use the Knicks Philosophy as a reference. You might think you getting an "A" but you end up getting an incomplete.
