in any case, with the cap being about 2.1mil higher and the sign/trade with the suns, we'll be netting almost 3mm more in capspace. if my #s are correct, after the amar'e signing, we'll still have +-20mm to spend if lebron isn't coming. that's pretty good.

if we could sign/trade lee out for randolph/filler, that would still leave us with 9mm to spend and we could use that sign someone like ray felton.

that team definitely makes the playoffs next year and then next summer we have room for someone like melo... not bad.

By the way Bill Walker's option is 800k. So by doing this we keep a good young player we already like without taking a cap hit and get a 2nd rounder. Nothing not to like about this.

Can someone explain how this helps the Suns? And how does this work even if both teams are under the cap? You're literally allowed to trade a lot for nothing? WTF?

since the knicks are just absorbing amar'e (since they have the capspace) the suns then get a 13million traded player exception, which they can use in a trade to acquire another player. i believe they'll be using some of it to get warrick from the bucks in a sign/trade.

It helps the Suns because they send the trade excpetion in exchange for a resigned Warrick and don't need to use their MLE on him.

You are allowed to trade a lot for nothing because the Knicks are under the cap and can absorb salary.

who cares, you can buy them so easily it doesnt matter..

walsh is more interested in the 800k more capspace we get this summer than a future 2nd round pick that can be attained extremely easily

I think the $13.5 mil exemption Phoenix gets is more valuable than the $800K in cap space. When the rumor was that they were giving us a 2nd round pick, my reaction was they should have to throw in a little more. I mean has Donnie done the math and determined that we'll go $800K over the cap if he executes his plan and he needs this trade?
