Felton is nowhere near as sexy as "you know who", but Raymond Felton's down home, tell it like it is, rugged, country boy, South Carolina style deserves a standing ovation... or at least a gold star.

The population of Latta, South Carolina is 1,379. That is about the number of people on one NYC Subway train. The season before he came to New York from Portland, one could tell that the big city had him excited. He responded with some of the best play of his pro career. He was deeply hurt when he was traded to Denver and he was not ashamed to show it. The hurt lasted for more than a year.

The second chance is the perfect opportunity to prove once again that he belongs in the city. Hence the self-described "chip" on his shoulder. A small town boy in the big city, surrounded by skeptics and following the contrail of a comet.

When you come all the way from Latta, SC, he only way to prove you belong is to work your azz off, without the bandage on our hand.

He had a great game last night but one game doesn't disprove what I wrote. Do I get to quote you every time Felton plays like crap and shoots us out of an easy win or into a loss?

It's been more than 1 night Vcoug.

Sometimes it's better to eat crow pie than stew over being right or wrong.

He's also had a bunch of bad games as well which was my point.

So 4 bad nights in 18 games?

It's been more than four and there are a bunch of other games where he was merely average. Like I said, he had a great game last night but one game certainly doesn't make the season.

He has had a few rough games but what player doesn't? One game doessn't make a season but his season thus far has been good.

15.9 PPG
6.9 AST
2.6 RBD
1.3 STL
2.3 TO's
.431 FG%
.419 3PT%

Starting PG for our 14-4 Knicks.

He's played pretty well but not to the extent some people have tried to claim. There were some people here who were calling him one of the top 8 or 10 point guards in the league. And I don't think we can win in the playoffs with him playing awful every few games at least not when he's dominating the ball and calling his own number as often as he does. We can afford terrible first halves in the regular season against the likes of Charlotte but in the playoffs it'll kill us.

We don't need Felton to dominate the game everytime out like he has done against Miami and San Antonio. We just need him to steer our deep star studded ship, make the occasional shot, and take care of the ball. Nobody said our $4mill/year man is a top 10 point guard. Simply alot of Knicks fans heaping praise for a job well done so far.

We don't need Felton to be CP3 or even Deron Williams. He can be some nights. We just need him to be our "Derek Harper" circa 1994.

Actually, http://www.ultimateknicks.com/forum/topic.asp?t=43213

And you're making my point for me. I don't want Felton to try and dominate the game unless he happens to be shooting really well that game. What I've been arguing is that I want him to be taking fewer shots, 10 or less per game, and working on getting others more involved in the offense. It's not a coincidence that his worst games, Brooklyn and Houston especially, all have come when it appears he's trying to prove something to everyone. The point I've tried to make over and over is that the team as a whole and Felton individually are much better when he's getting others involved and calling his own number less.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

Agreed; he's played more like a top 15 PG. At his salary, that's a steal though.

We're talking about 5 shots/game. A couple more lobs to Tyson and a couple of hockey assists to Kidd/Novak open from 3 and I'll be ecstatic.

85 Per Cent?

"We're 14-4 overall, which truthfully offsets any loss we've had." - NYKMentality

VCoug - Raymond Felton is still getting acquainted with 13 men he has never run with, outside of Amar'e who is in a suit. Rather than kvetch over the 4 losses (one of which he had an off night shooting, just ONE), why not celebrate Raymond's last three games?

That would be too much of a stretch, yes?

You wouldn't know it from the numbers he's been putting up, but Knicks point guard Raymond Felton is playing in a significant amount of pain.

And he's OK with that.

"As long as I keep playing on it, it’s going to keep getting whacked every game so it’s not getting better, but not getting worse either," Felton said on Saturday. "So it’s pretty much staying the same."

Felton suffered a bone bruise and contusion on his left hand late in the Knicks' win over Phoenix on Sunday. He played in the Knicks' next game against Charlotte. He struggled with his shot early on but straightened it out once he took the bandage off. And he's been red-hot since.

In his past three games - all Knicks wins - Felton's averaging 22.3 points and 7.7 assists while hitting 11 of 24 from beyond the arc. He had a season-high 27 in New York's 20-point win over the Heat. - Ian Begley, ESPN

One question. Is Raymond Felton playing at less than 85 per cent?

Shooting is important but it's not the only thing. If you actually watched the games instead of looking at the box scores you would know what I was talking about.

He had a really bad night. He always is introspective after these games so hopefully he comes back and plays like he has when the Knicks have been unstoppable.

Problem is Felton has a one track mind. Once he commits in penetration he is either looking to squeeze a pass in or take the shot. Hopefully teams don't take after the Bulls gameplan. Once Felton penetrated no one was open. Thats why he took 30 shots

Every single othe Knick shot 50% or better and Ray decides to shoot 26 times? To connect only on 9?
You're the point guard, Ray, PASS THE DAMN BALL!
Shooting 40% on the year, bro. Stop ****ing forcing it!

19 and 8

There were two layups that Felton barely missed on and two jumpers that could have come with more patience. Otherwise, he set an aggressive tempo from the opening tip and protected the basketball. Eight assists and one (ONE) turnover.

Felton versus Lin will be epic.

Beat Houston.

Well said. It wasn't a good shooting performance, no, but like you've already stated Raymond Felton still put up 19 points, 8 assists, 3 boards, 1 steal along with only 1 turnover. A plus/minus differential of +9. Felton not only attacked LA's defense during the entire game but also defended very hard. Eliminated Chris Duhon from the game.

That does it for me! If you can shut down (SUPER) Chris Duhon then you can do anything in this league.
