Sorry to be self indulgent and start a thread like this but I thought it would so delight my Homer friends here for me to serve up a proclamation in favor of Melo.

The kid continues to improve and live up to his potential. We all knew he had talent, its the maturity that he is getting.

Maturity on the court buying into the system, playing hard off the ball, and showing leadership by setting picks, rebounding, Jumping into the stands, and supporting his coach.

Homers and haters alike had no basis to predict this could happen other than HOPING it would. Haters never saw it in his career so could not see it coming. Homers love the starphuch anyway and buy into the Hype/hope served up.

Haters saw an immature Melo who frustrated his coach in Denver. We saw it to some degree with MDA. Melo has changed/Matured to buy into the team concept with Woodson. Karl was very complimentary of him coming into NY yesterday. He has been critical of him previously.

Melo seems to trust the system and his team.

This is not what I read, or the fables told by others, but what I see with my own eyes.

I am very pleased with the progress by Melo appreciate the high level of play so far this season!

As a skeptic of Melo and the trade I am happy to say this is one starphuch that seems to be working itself nice.

We'll let the future take care of itself, im just about this season for now.

Dolan is still an aszhole. He was fortunate this time. This was not about Dolan or any homer saying "Told you so", this is about Melo this past summer putting it together either in his head or with his body.

My hope is we can do this for the rest of the season and beyond. I am not skeptical but not alone in my surprise the team has been this good!

Sometimes we get good surprise! Its been a long time.

The games still matter most.

Melo is better than every single player we gave up. We also got Felton back for cheap. It is clearly a win scenario for the NYK. Coming into the season, it was clear to me that this was the best Knick team in at least a decade. I stated this in July, August and October. It is being proven on the court now and there is plenty of room for improvement when Stat and Shump return.

Putting people in position to succeed and covering there weaknesses = winning formula.
Putting people in position to fail and then bashing them for not overcoming all obsticales = losing/dysfunctional formula.

A lot of the knocks on Melo were legit at the same time he was slightly over criticized. The problem I had was the viewpoint that he would never get better or ever find success when over the yrs of watching basketball we have seen tons of players do so in the later parts of there careers.

Wow...you can't even do the work to compare his season stats to his career numbers? He's at his career averages for everything except 3pt FG% (up by 13) and assists (down by 1 because he's on the court with 2 point guards most of the time).

You obviously put on a show to get the board riled up. If not, it's beyond me how you or anyone else can't support Melo when he is doing everything ever asked of him.

He is putting more effort on defense then he ever has in his career, he is also taking better shots then he has in the past. There are a lot of things that are factoring into that. Like he has a more defensive minded coach then he has ever had in the NBA. And he has more trust in his teammates then he has ever had in the past. Things like trusting teammates and understanding it doesn't have to all be on your shoulders usually comes with age though there are special players that get earlier.

He has been prone at times this season to slip back to bad habits but for he most part he has done a good job in those areas.

His catch and shooting is a lot better this season then last season as well and he is knocking down 3s on the regular which is a great sign for when Amare comes back. Melo's failure to shoot effectively from the outside for the majority of the season last yr hurt Amare's game and Amare's inability to knock down his 18 footer hurt Melo and Tyson's game.

This discussion is getting boring. Melo has been great. It is proven out on the court and team record. Trolls won't give him any credit and actual Knick fans should not care about trolls not giving Melo credit.

Melo is playing Elite.....
