If the Clippers are unable to land Baron Davis, another option may be to trade guard Cuttino Mobley for the New York Knicks' Jamal Crawford, according to the source.

would this help our salary cap situation?

Cuttino expires a year before Jamal and would free up $10 M in cap space for 2010.

Elite, can you post a link? Not trying to be a dick but I'd like to see where you get this from.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Steve Francis would frown on this trade.

If we could extract a pick from the Clippers I'd be all over this.

The clips wont give up a pick as well. This deal would work into the plans and there would be no reason to hold out.

Let's not get picky here. Peace, Craw. Capspace is without a doubt the Knicks most important asset. Someone will want the responsibility of turning the New York Knicks around, especially if D'Antoni and Walsh prove to be competent enough to get winning-type players around whichever superstar that is.

Craw's not a bad player. I'd be trying to do this anyway if I was the Clips.

What about this;
Tim Thomas
Mobley
Gordon

Lee
Craw
Jeffries
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Pick would be nice, but I am drooling at the opportunity to dump Crawford for shorter contract and get below the cap in 2010. I dont care if all four STAR FAs in 2010 sign elsewhere, as long as we are under the cap we will continue to have options to sign the next big thing.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

I don't like the deal at all, everyone is looking to 2010 what happens if James,Wade and Bosh stay with their team and we have no good player??? Most of you guy don't like Crawford but I do.

Is this for real So what in the meantime??? I understand the logic just don't get to crazy. Crawford for Cat is crazy and just a salary dump who are we the Nets.

I would probably want a lottery protected 1st rounder, in addition, but overall this is a great trade. Craw is a good player, but a terrible fit for this team and where we're hopefully going. Getting extra flexibility is great.

That's easy; you stay the course and don't settle until we find a way to get our franchise player, whether it be via trade, free agency or the draft. You leave that avenue open until you get one, and then use your assets to shape your team around that player.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

again, pure speculation from the author. just more gossip. but it's logical gossip. it does fit the plan of getting under the cap in 2010. he has an opt out after the 2008/2009 season. if he doesn't exercise it, he's owed $9.4 mil in 09/10 and $10.1 mil in 10/11.

and there's a plethora of free agents in 2010. losing crawford is not make or break for the long term plans. it might hurt the team the next two years tho in terms of wins/losses but losing more next season would benefit the team in the long run b/c of the 2009 pick.

cuttino mobley is was and will forever be a better shooter and a better overall guard than crawford, even if he is balding in 3 spots
