(bonn: you cannot stop yet another entertaining thread - you can only hope to contain it. Yo dude, sincere thanks for the poll, "sniff" I am truly honored for that unique recognition...)

hold up...

February 16, 2008 -- NEW ORLEANS - Jerry Colangelo, the executive director of USA Basketball and former longtime Suns owner, said yesterday he would be interested in interviewing for the Knicks' presidency this summer if Isiah Thomas is let go, labeling the potential vacancy "a real challenge."

"If someone calls and wants to have a conversation, I'm open to talk," Colangelo said yesterday while discussing the U.S. Olympic Team during All-Star weekend. "I like New York."

When asked by The Post (Berman) if he liked the Knicks' situation, Colangelo said: "Do I like the Knicks situation? The Knicks situation is what it is. It would be real challenge. It is a challenge for anyone - present management, ownership or new. But some people like those challenges and some don't. It's a big one."

Fred Sanford: (stumbling back, clutching chest) "This is the Big one Elizabeth...!"

Can Head Coach Dan (not Mike) D'Antoni be far behind?

and btw isn't it pretty unusual for someone in his role to take such a large public swipe at isiah like that?

You're welcome. Just start another "everyone knows we're making the playoffs" threads in order to avoid the problem of the previous one being locked.

that's usually when the person in question is deserving of respect. I am not sure Isiah warrants such.

Cute Chicks: "Hi Howie!"

bonn - With the impending dramatic changes to the coaching staff and roster, everyone knows we're making the playoffs (in 2009) so what's the problem?

(Footnote: in the locked thread I never gave a predicted year. Damn, that three-button, teflon sportscoat certainly feels good)

If the New York media is good for one thing, it is good for starting forrest fires from the tiny spark of a conversation. If Isiah is indeed "dead man walking" the calibre (or absence) of player deals before the trade deadline may provide a clue.

"Let's go to the cute girls in short skirts and high heels carrying the suitcases..."

Deal: Isiah still has influence, and the pictures on Dolan. Four more years.

No-Deal: Isiah has been effectively put on lockdown until he receives his papers at the end of the season. Call in The Cleaner.

Time will tell

Jerry Colangelo is the savior we really need. Dolan will never do it, but that could lead to a true reversal of fortune.

You gotta love it when someone tries to do a 180, completely ignoring all of the obnoxious things that he said to the contrary, while acting like this was what he always believed.

Pathetic.

missesearl has only tried the 180 once. His idol does it every few months as his "plan" changes.

Who Got Next?

Cosmic - there could be an outside chance that the discussion with the next President will not rest totally with James but with another Cablevision suit in an undisclosed location. Colangelo would not dare violate NBA rules against tampering.

The rumor pot is starting to be stirred.

Unfortunately this has no chance of happening because it would violate Dolan's fourth rule of business. "Never hire someone competent."

What colangelo represents is not another "starphuch" for the fan but the clout to get it done. A former owner (manageing partner) Dolan has to defer to him to run the show. So his hiring would mark a dramatic shift in thinking. That itself is reason to cheer more than any other trade idea cooked up here or in Isiahs pea brain.

Jerry has major clout with the league so he can get things done. Not by miricle, but by making trades that make sense for all. I suspect Isiah is not well recieved by some. Jerry can call an owner and tell him why its a good deal for them without being fleeced. Likewise, I think the health of all franchises involved is important. If Isiah is calling with desporate trades he is not getting many calls. Anyone who banked no Marbury does not get much cred.

With respect comes authority and that more than anything is reason to cheer.

This hire would give me reason to compliment Dolan. Dolan would look smart to hire a guy like this. Dolan can just sit back and bask in the glory of praise instead of regretting. If Jerry did not pan out he could not be accused of not trying. Hiring Isiah was a stupid move from the moment it happened.

Here is what needs to be done.

1. Fire Isiah Thomas and his entire coaching staff
2. Fire Steve Mills

1. Hire Jerry Colangelo
2. Look to bring in Rich Carlisle

Offseason Moves
1. Trade Nate Robinson for Kyle Lowry
2. Sign Josh Childress to an off set at the mid-level
Plan B. Ron Artest
3. Move Jamal Crawford for an expiring contract
4. Eddy Curry for an expiring

The team is on it's way to getting better, stable gm, good coach, renewed fan base
