The Knicks and Celtics have had serious discussions in recent days concerning a deal for Walker, according to a league source.

A potential deal could include Latrell Sprewell, whose contract matches Walker's. Or Boston could be looking to cut payroll by adding several lower-salaried players, including Kurt Thomas. A third team may have to be involved in order to complete the deal. Ward, Dirty Kurty and Mewell should be leaving if the knicks are ready to go in a different direction.

I'M gonna remember all these postas who say they don't want Walker, when he changes his game to meet Knicks needs you guys are gonna do some re-thinking about him. He won't be a CHUCKER LIKE HE WAS IN BOSTON.

Hmmmm and you have personally spoken with him and Don Chaney about this changing of his game to fit what NY needs? I am not going to bash Walker completely because he is decent. He isnt an all star but he is ok. However if he doesnt change his game to bang inside then he is useless for this squad.

You can't teach and old dog new tricks. Walker will always be that a chucker. He is more a selfish player than Spree. If you gonna trade Spree trade him where you see him twice a year he will haunt NYK. If I were the Knicks I would offer the mid level for a center and just let Spree's contract run out. You will have Lampe who I think will be ready by next year.

playa, this is one of the few times we agree, but I do like Walker, I know his shot selection has been in question, but the guy is young and he has size and is very talented... I would do that deal today!!

I'm so surprised that so many Knick fans hate Walker.

But just remember, in the playoffs when he is leading us, I was one of the few that said he would be great for this team.

Don't forget to qualify that with "...as long as he isn't playing against his pimp-daddy, Kenyon Martin"

If the deal is straight up... maybe. I don't know .... does this deal make us better? Twan would have to change his game. His skill set suits us better than Spree's. He'd have to change his game and get in shape. He's very talented but doesn't seem committed to the game (at least in conditioning). That would drive me crazy. To include Thomas in the deal... i'd hope we'd get a pick coming our way, or maybe Battie (nice defensive presence in the middle). A third team would make things interesting.

If the deal is straight up, the Knicks will invariably win.
Some reasons why:

• Sprewell is MUCH older than Walker and he's shown some signs of going into decline.
• Their contracts are virtually the same--- both are only good for 2 more seasons, so it's not like we're taking on a long term deal! If we don't like him, we let him go and still get our cap room.
• Walker is younger, bigger, and arguably more versatile
• Walker has upside and arguably still has more potential (he's still 26)

Why not?
• Sprewell is our "heart" and our leader.
• Walker is OWNED by KMart
• Sprewell shoots a higher FG% (40% vs 39% hahahahaha!)
• Walker is a mediocre defender / Sprewell is above average

So there you have it. I like Sprewell--- I wish we signed him instead of Houston back in the day. That summer, several high profile swingmen were available: Houston, Sprewell, and Steve Smith-- I would have chosen the latter two over Houston!

I'm totally for this trade, if it is in fact straight up. If as I fear Kurt Thomas is involved, I might be a little worried. Thomas is a top defensive big man--- but Walker has the potential to be an unstoppable force offensively from anywhere no the floor. I'd imagine we'd have to take on another of the Celtic's swingmen or guards, perhaps Tony Delk (who I like as a 3rd guard).

I really like Thomas's toughness, but he is technically a small PF and really small C. We'd really have to count on Lampe/Sweetney coming through if we lost Kurt.

Kenyon proved that he is useless. Boston wants to rid themselves of Walker because they have found him to be useless. I have a better idea and the knicks should look for a more athletic player someone like James Posey from the rockets. he is 6'8''can score and rebound. You avoid a poor shooter in Walker and get a up and coming player in Posey. Walker is on the decline he has a chronic knee problem that limits his game, his mobility is going down and that usually results in poor shot selection. Walker can no longer create space for a decent shot attempt and it results in a chuck. When he does shoot it he is out of his range and leaves it up to lady luck to put the ball in the bucket. Knicks should stay away from that. I would only take walker if the knicks can pull a trade that included Spoon, Anderson and Eisley for Walker. Other than that I wouldn't touch him.

He's very talented but doesn't seem committed to the game (at least in conditioning). That would drive me crazy.

I recall reading an article after the boston-nets series that said walker was gonna work out with jordan's famed ex-trainer, tim grover, because he felt slow and didn't feel confident in his post moves. grover's definitely got his work cut out for him, but hopefully the knicks do get a new and improved walker.

If Spree for Walker is the trade look for improvements from both players on their new teams. Both players could probably use the change in scenery.

This trade would be similar to Kidd/Starbury.

And if Walker gets his confidence uplifted, The Garden gets lit like Rockefeller center....NY is instantly back in da mix.

We need to see some kind of change. If our "big three" next year is Spree, Houston & Thomas again I'm gonna be sick.

I gotta believe that any trade that involves NY and Bos, and who includes Spree and Walker, will also somehow involve Baker. BAKER!

No way Boston gives up a young allstar without dumping some heavy weight.
