From the NY Post:
....Knicks are unsure if the player they've pegged, 6-11 Arizona center Channing Frye, will make it to their first pick, No. 8. If Frye is not there, a NBA source familiar with Thomas' thinking told The Post the Knicks are strongly considering the 7-foot, 280-pound high school center Andrew Bynum, which would be a reach if you consider mock drafts the Bible.

Bynum, who played at St. Joseph High School in Metuchen, N.J., had been projected as a mid-first-round choice.

"Isiah likes to go against the grain," one person close to Thomas said. "He doesn't really care about what the mock drafts say. He likes the kid."

From the Toronto newspaper on Frye:
Channing Frye, Arizona. 6-foot-11, 248-pound centre. A senior who averaged 15.8 points and 7.6 rebounds a game this season, Frye is thought to be an NBA-ready player who just may be of interest to the Raptors. "You can just unwrap him and put him in a game right now," one analyst said. "A lot of people feel New York will take him at eight if Toronto doesn't take him at seven."

it's hard to tell how much of this is manuevering or lies and how much is true.

but it's very good to know that Zeke would take a long look at Bynum if Frye was gone.

Honestly, if Frye, Granger, Green are all gone by 8, I would not mind Bynum. I would take Bynum over Graham, as long as we have Q. Graham and Q would be too repetitive.

so, it's looking like it will either be Frye or Bynum, because there's really no way that Granger or Green fall that far, and I don't think the Knicks will take a swing man rated lower on their boards when they just traded for Q.

I hope Toronto does take Frye, Bynum would be the right choice for NY in the long haul. IMO

I want Bynum. I think the smokescreen is slowing billowing away. Now we hear that IT likes Bynum. IT supposedly haven't seen Bynum and he wouldn't draft him sight unseen. I think that last Portland workout was for our benefit. All this Frye stuff was just an illusion covering the reporters eyes to keep people out of our business.

i still think Isiah could very well take a swingman at #8 & maybe try to trade up from #30 to take a big...he'll probably use the MLE to go after another big like Kwame, Curry or Z...i don't think it's a given that he'll take Frye or Bynum at #8.

Let's say the draft goes like this:

1- Bogut
2- M. Williams
3- Green
4- C. Paul
5- D. Williams
6- Frye / Felton
7- Granger/ Frye

The best choices left would probably be Bynum, Graham. From those two, both expected to go from 10-16, I would take Bynum since its a lot of potential and a need we cover...

this is pure watershed BS, the Knicks are taking Frye, perhaps this was a jab back at that Toronto piece, but Toronto is not taking Frye and neither is utah.

the chance we take bynum with pick 8 is 0.

I think this is excellent news:

from the post too:
He impressed the Blazers (No. 3) and Lakers (No. 10), and Isiah Thomas says the Knicks might pick him with the No. 8 pick. But most mock drafts have him going much lower and he wasn't invited to the lottery or Chicago pre-draft camp.

Because if Channing Frye is off the board when our pick rolls around, at least now I know there's a chance we take Bynum over Fran Vazquez
