NY times reports that NY wants assurances on Q's health conditions and Pheonix has yet to send paperwork to NY. Reports that the trade is on hold and could be cancelled unless Pheonix complies.

I read the same thing, and good, IT needs to make sure we don't get damaged goods in this deal.....

THOMAS REMAINS A KNICK

By MARC BERMAN

June 25, 2005 -- Kurt Thomas remains a Knick — at least for another day.

"For three, four years, every other month, there's been discussions of a trade," Thomas' agent, Jerry Hicks, said. "We're treating this as nothing has been said. We're not waiting."

Well, Thomas might want to start packing. There's only one issue left to be resolved before the deal with the Suns for Quentin Richardson is done — getting an insurance exemption for a preexisting back injury sustained by Richardson, the Knicks' prospective new starting shooting guard.

The Knicks expect the matter to be resolved in a couple of days. There's only a very small chance the insurance exemption would kill the deal. The Knicks might want to wait until after Tuesday's draft to see whom they pick.

Now maybe the Knicks could do that Drew Gooden for Kurt Thomas trade that Cleveland wants.

it sounds more like it's on hold for the moment. Though, that would be hilarious is Zeke backed out of yet ANOTHER Kurt trade at the last possible minute.

My guess is, he wants to wait until closer to the draft, so the Knicks have two shiny new bigs to show off and people can't bitch about how small they are without Kurt.

They'll probably have a press conference to introduce Q, Bynum/Frye and maybe Taft or Blatche all at once...

For me I couldn't agree less. It is SO time for this franchise to move beyond Kurt Thomas as its center.

I hate Kurt with a passion...He symbolize nothing but bad luck for this organization...everytime we find a way to get rid of his ass, something funny always happen and as a result, the trades never happen. Phuck Kurt...

Don't overlook that statement, this deal is as good as done. The Knicks would risk giving up an additional 1st rd pick and a decent all around player???.. not likely!

My bet is that Q-Rich is the starting small forward, not two guard.. contrary to the NYPOST reports.

I just hope that Toronto drafts Channing Frye at #7, Portland trades down w/LA for #10, and we GRAB ANDREW BYNUM @ #8.

Bynum
Sweetney
Richardson
Crawford
Marbury

May not be a Eastern Conference contender immediately, BUT sets us up w/ a nice young nucleus for the future.

If we some how traded for Elton Brand, we'd be in the hunt right away though... Sweetney/Tim Thomas #30 for Brand/Quinton Ross/Mamadou N'Daiye #32????

I think that since QRich was able to average 36 minutes per game last season, his back issues are not major. I would have insisted on seeing medical paperwork on his condition early on in the negiotiations, however. You can't get to square three without passing squares one and two first.
We will NEVER win with Marbury as our cameo guy.

I think Q-Rich's back problem are related to him being over weight. He is a fat guy.

I think Isiah will take care of the center situation this summmer. As far as Kurt goes, even if this trade does not work, he will be traded this summer. I also feel that Granger would be a good pick.

I think they'll push for it to get done. Both players have come out in public now and its so far along that its not likely that this will be a snag unless Q has some really serious issue (which seems unlikely since he played 79 games plus playoffs last year).

All the other papers say this is minor and deal should go thru soon. Only Times says it might not.

sometimes lawyers and insurance people don't work on saturdays and why not wait a few days to announce it.

Or the lawyers have yet to get the contract and review the conditions and then confer with the insurance situation.

Im sure there priority is not to satisfy impatient fans who can't wait the weekend.

Could this be that the Knicks or Isiah are trying to grab the spot light on draft day?? After all, this is N.Y., WE DO BIG THINGS...

Here is another scenario

The real reason why this deal is yet to be official is because Utah and Toronto are showing mad interest in Frye..Isiah wants to wait until after the draft to see whether or not Frye or Bynum will still be on the board at 8. If neither are on the board, look for Isiah to go after a wing player like Webster or Green if they are both there. Isiah is a very clever cat....pretty brilliant by Isiah
