talked about before but jyd for ruben patterson.

apparently, according to the chad, an offseason priority is to move patterson. if that draft day deal doesn't happen with the lakers, maybe a simple swap of jyd for ruben could be in the cards.

i'd rather trade Malik for Ruben & hold onto JYD...he's a difference maker when he gets it going.

Malik Rose was a difference maker in San Antonio... he helped them to 2 titles with all the scrappy plays that JYK makes, except under championship series pressure. Plus Rose LOVES defending centers.

I think I'd try to move Tim first. Secure as many minutes as possible for Trevor. If we can do that first, I like that Rose for Ruben plan. Keep some consitant D on the floor from the 3 spot.

w/o Duncan that team doesn't win jack...Malik's a good role player, but i like JYD's impact on games more...just personal preference.

I'd rather move Maurice Taylor before Rose or JYD. Better to keep extra defenders than just a pure scorer. Sweetney should get the scorer's role.

I'm not sure trading JYD for Ruben is worth pursuing anyway. Doesn't really make us THAT much better. Rather draft Eddie Basden somewhere along the way.

I'd do JYD for Patterson and the #35. But straight up? Never! its a lateral move at best, and at worst we get a chemistry killing pedophile who is a team cancer. Why do we want to do this trade again?

it's a lateral move talent-wise BUT it does balance out are roster some more.

now you have a full backcourt of marbury, Q, craw, and some defense in ruben.

and back to only 3 PF's in sweets, malik, and mo.

it's all about balancing the roster and getting players that have different skillsets.

I hope to God IT doesn't trade JYD. He could be sixth man of the year on a well coached team.

Well, first of all, tell me how bad is his contract because the last time we thought about trading for him we thought about offering Shandon Anderson...

ruben and jyd pretty much have the same EXACT deal.

malik is a better, more versatile version than jyd so there's no need for both.

Malik wants to be a starter in this league...and Isiah should try to find him a team in the west that is looking for a guy like Malik. Houston is a very good fit for Malik.....They need a winner, or a guy that has played in many big games like Malik to push them over the hump.

i agree wholeheartedly...he's a rare player in that he can impact a game on his hustle alone...he doesn't have to put up #'s to affect a game like other players do.

I wouldn't want Ruben right now. He'd take minutes from Ariza, and the Knicks seem sort of loaded at the SG/SF. JYD can play a little SF, but he also plays a high energy PF for a good 15 minutes. I'd like to keep JYD and Malik around, because whether we draft Bynum or Frye, they are both young and what better kind of vets to teach them the ropes than these guys. They're stand up players. That's actually the main reason I regret losing Kurt, he would've been a heck of a teacher for the draft pick.

i don't believe KT would have been such a great teacher...what did he teach Mike Sweetney? how to be a fat, out of shape, non-defending softie? if anything, KT's presence would only have HINDERED the young guys' development because he'd be pining for his share of minutes.

JYD & Malik are the types of players that you want to surround your young guys with...they know how to play in the team concept, & they appreciate the roles they play & go about doing their jobs the right way.

KT wants to be a star even when his talent set is that of a role player, & he wants to collect his rebounds & score his points to fill his statline...i don't know how many times i've seen him fight w/his own man for a rebound only to have the ball end up out of bounds & a turnover...that's not lack of communication, that's lack of a willingness to give up an easy rebound to a teammate in my book...when he collects early fouls he gets on the refs & gets technicals called on him & ignores his teammates - more selfishness on his part...yeah, there's such a thing as being a fiery competitor, but KT isn't that...if he's getting his points & his rebounds you never hear a peep out of him, no matter what the score...he hasn't been a leader in his time here either, getting into arguments with Marbury & whining about his playing time when the Knicks were trying to work McDyess into the rotation...KT is everything that i felt was wrong with this franchise the past 5 years because he's a role player w/a primadonna's mentality..."Dirty Kurty" hasn't been dirty since '99.

yeah, I agree with some of that, I guess. Kurt certainly never liked giving up minutes. But I think most of what you're complaining about is his competitiveness.
