Could it be that bringing in Q at the 2 is a precursor to moving Craw to the 1 and moving Marbury??? Maybe a draft choice and ???

I hope not! The one going out is Houston, though I hope he retires, to make his exit a better one than being cut...

An Arizona Republic story (which may be wrong about the draft choice(s) indicates that Q will be put at SF with TT being shopped

Actually, a report like that could be intended to preserve Marbury's or Crawford's trade value.

Who exactly would take Marbury and what would we have to take back for his contract and baggage?
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Not a trade thread just an observation that there a three guards and two can play the point. My personal feelings are that a tough respected coach can turn Marbs into a much better point-Brown anyone??? The entire thread is a question. Marbury has talent, is tough, can be clutch but its no secret his decision are not in line with his pure talent-he certainly makes better decision than Craw but no one is going to mistake his decisions or passing to that of Kidd.

Thare is Marbury. Then there is Craw who can play point, but probably shouldn't. Q is not a point by any stratech of the imagination. His ball handling skills are not top notch. If they were, he'd be staying and Joe Johnson would be leaving instead.

Crawford is good, but he can't carry Marbury's jock in a suitcase in his dreams. Suggesting, questioning, anything about moving Marbury to have Crawford play PG is ridiculous. And that's even factoring in Marbury's microfracture surgery.

He didn't have any surgery. That was just an incorrect report by a poster here

While I am not huge Marbury fan, one must recognize his talent and value to the team. He is not Nash, nor Kidd, but a decent ball distributer and a top creater of points.

Q will help him a lot!

I don't think Isiah even looks to trade Marbs unless its an offer he can't refuse!

Once again, the problem with trading Marbury is that is nearly impossible to get equal value back.

We need a C, or a sutd PF. Is anybody trading a lowpost stud for PG? I don't think so.

Maybe Randloph but he is not good enough.

A guy you would trade Marbury for would somebody like Jermaine O'Neal, Shaq, KG, Duncan, that is 1for1 trade.

The only more feasible scenario is if somebody takes on a lot of our bad contracts, like Houston (now that he can be cut maybe someone will?) and gives us picks, along with a solid big like Gasol.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

What baggage? You get back future first round picks and expiring contracts for bums. Atlanta will jump at that. They have cap space but can't attract FAs. Marbury has a huge fan base in Atlanta

how is it ridiculous? it might need work but don't forget Crawford is a PG and he was Chicago's PG for 6yrs! His role as PG would be to get his teammates involved especially since we'll have the talent in place. His role as SG was to shot the ball and he shots 39% and no chemistry playing next to Marbury!

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/story/322635p-275843c.html

The grunt work continues tomorrow when the trade that will send Kurt Thomas to Phoenix for Quentin Richardson and a future first-round pick is expected to be completed. Eventually, the Knicks will release Allan Houston and save $40 million in luxury tax while removing the last piece from the team that reached the 1999 NBA Finals.

Between then and now there is no predicting what Thomas will do. The Knicks own the eighth and 30th picks and are hoping to select a big man like Arizona's Channing Frye. But Thomas also has hinted that he may draft a point guard with the idea of moving Marbury to shooting guard or to another NBA city.
