HOw about we fix this frontcourt of ours, because we really have no one to play center.

Penny + 8

for

Mashburn (1 year longer than penny @10 million)
Dalembert (resigned to slightly higher than MLE type numbers)
2nd rounder #45

Philly
Wants and probably needs this pick, they don't have a first rounder, and they need to get better (they barely squeaked into the playoffs). This trade puts them closer to the cap at seasons end, and they get to add another good player to their squad. Who knows who the hell they pick, but they can get an impact player at 8, thats for sure and they are already committed to C Webb, and Marc Jackson, so they could snatch up one of these talented wing players to play with Iggie and Ivo. They just moved up 37 spots in the draft.

NY
Needs frontcourt help badly. We just shipped out our starting center for a talented wing, and are left with grim prospects as far as bigs go in this draft. Dalembert is better than all of the bigs, and is ready now! He blocks shots, he catches passes for dunks, he rebounds, and he is 7 feet!! We NEED him! We traded expiring contracts, but the one we get back is one year longer, still it only adds up to 5.2 million extra in salary, total. Mash expires along with H20 and several other players, so we are still on track to shedding salary cap wise in the 06/07 offseason.

This is what our team looks like
Marbury/Jackson/#30
Crawford/Ariz/
Q Rich/JYD/Rose
Tim Thomas/Sweets/Rose
Dalembert/Butler

with our #30 we get a pg and we have a bright future ahead of us.

IDK, a little too rich for my blood. I like Dalembert, but taking Mashburn, giving up Penny's contract AND #8 is too much. Wouldn't it just be easier to draft Bynum? Or for what we're getting, is Sammy that much better than Frye?

Tim Thomas the starting PF?

I would trade a pick for Sam, even though he's raw though. But I just don't see Philly doing it, as it's obvious they can get much better offers for him. I just don't see them doing it. Sam is going to be a defensive monster

Not with pick #8 included. That plus Penny's 15 mil expiring contract is too much to give up. I'd rather draft Bynum or Frye (if we have to get a center) and trade Penny's or TT's expiring contract to get Boozer.

On a sidenote, I could care less about Penny or Tim and their contracts. But Frye wasn't a good rebounder in college and Sam is a monster on the boards and was a monster in the playoffs. He's not soft unlike Frye. This would be a good trade for us, even though we get Jamals contract. Why not just do 8 for Dalemert straight up. Not that Philly would do it nor the one mentioned above.

This isn't bad for either team.

I dont think anyone can give them this kind of cap relief AND a lotto.

Bynum or Frye are not now, and may never be as good as Dalembert is (even though he has a ways to go).

Don't think I'd give up the no.8 for Dalembert. He still hasn't made the leap forward to warrant that much IMO.

To warrant what? Did you see him against the Pistons?

What has anyone who will be available at #8 shown you that you wouldn't die to be drafting right now.

Only if Granger is available would I not do this, and even then, I'd consider it.

I guess we can all get excited about a 7 foot 17 year old who is cancelling workouts, but we can't excited about a 24 year old center who is turning into a beast on the boards and in the paint!

How about the fact he regressed/stagnated in many aspects this year when he was expected to break out? He's a talented player, a good player, but would I take Danny Granger or Gerald Green over him? Yes. I do prefer Dalembert to Frye, and if Frye is the guy we're taking I'd make that trade.

Has Philly even worked anyone out? Would they be prepared to move into the lottery with the draft less than a week away?

Frye seems to be comparable to Dalembert, why not just draft him, instead of trading Penny and taking on a dud in Mashburn.

This makes little to no sense.

WHAT!!!!!
Frye doesn't have the size that Dakembert has, although Frye is definitely a more polished offensive player. Will Frye be blocking and rebounding like Daly in the league? I don't know, but if we pick him I sure hope so.

Yea, I'd say Frye will put up comparable numbers. He's a few years younger, and last year Dalembert only put up 7 boards 1.7 blocks per game.

Dalembert is 6'11", just like Frye.

That being said, why is everyone so sour on Frye. He could come in and you could realistically expect 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks, better numbers than Dalembert.

Yet people are calling for Dalembert to get $50 million and those same people say Frye is "soft" because he doesn't rebound with tenacity.

I think Frye can be as good as Dalembert.

this is a terrible trade Dalembert is not that good. too much of a liability offensively and way too foul prone and is abused by bigger players

I am not sour on frye.
Dalembert's body is wider with longer arms and longer wingspan.

Tim Thomas and his 3.7 rebounds a game as your PF without a KT? We would be a little too soft in the middle. I am sure more shoes are going to drop and Isiah is going after a legit power forward, either in the draft or more likely in a trade.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.
