22nd June, 2005 - 1:20 pm
Beacon-Journal - An Eastern Conference executive said that Larry Brown has promised New York Knicks president Isiah Thomas that he'll talk to him about the Knicks' vacant coaching job at the end of the Detroit Pistons ' season.

The Cavaliers have been operating under the belief that Brown will be coming, but he has a history of changing his mind at the last minute.

The Knicks can't afford to compensate the Pistons with anything except money.

I love the Pistons and I'd hate to see them lose Brown, but it could be a great thing for NY to get Brown here to coach if he is healthy. Considering how good things look for us after the rule changes, the Knicks should strike now on a great coach...

The Knicks can't afford to give up any draft picks as compensation for Larry Brown. He is not worth it even if he is Larry Brown. He is still under contract.

lame. Watch we use the 2 picks in the Nazr deal and $5mm as compensation or something to that tune.

I can see that or more probably the loss of a future 2006 #1 pick. I really hope they wouldn't do it, but the fact that Isiah has left Herb Williams hanging so long (regardless if you think he's a good coach or not) makes me believe that Isiah is looking for a "big name" coach and will part with draft picks as compensation.

I don't know, I think the pistons know if he wants to leave, Brown could just retire citing medical reasons and the pistons get nothing. I don't think they want to drag this on, I could see them taking a future second round pick and some money, I seriously doubt IT gives up any first round picks in this deal...

Larry walked with a year form Philly and Detroit did not have to comp them a thing!

Pistons may want to get on with the next phase of developement by integrating Delfino and Darko in some manner. Larry SHOULD be allowed to walk regardless. They might be tired of Larry despite his success and mutually agree to terminate. They don't have to pay him, he can do what ever!

Yea, honestly I don't think the Pistons really want Brown back next season so I find it hard to believe we would have to give up even one first round pick as compensation. I think if Brown leaves the Pistons, it will be mutual as Nalod said.

I love Larry as a coach,,,I think that he is the best coach in the business....he is probably the only one that can finally teach Marburry the PG position and turn him into a champion....

he took Iverson to the Finals but they couldn't get over the hump, & Iverson was a much better player to begin with...no way he'll be able to get us a championship here unless we drastically improve this roster regardless...Isiah is on the clock this offseason...he better not mess up.

With Isiah at the helm and Brown as his general, the Knicks will be a championship caliber instantly....We all know that Isiah is not affraid to make moves, and given the fact that he admires Brown, he would give Brown whatever player that he desires.. One thing is for sure, Brown would get Marb and Crawfford to play defense.....

The man will bail out the first chance he gets. I really would like to stay away from Brown. Great coach but untrustable. Why would anyone want to walk away with a team that might win its second title in two years and a possible chance at a threepeat. If he bails on the Pistons it sure would say alot about his character. Let me guess more money I really think this guy is chasing the big pay check.

I agree 100%. I would love Brown to be NY coach. But the media has battered him so much with this, that I doubt he will go to NY, at least this year. Just to maintain some of his credibility, he will probably stay out of basketball for a season.

The man did his job, and now he just wants to take a piss without being crosseyed!

And with his women living in PHilly, they can see her and his kid!

He comes, and leaves, but leaves us better than when he came.

So what if he bails, your not his bitsch? Afraid for him to leave before he even gets here?

Its his dream job. Let him dream and earn 10mil!

Well he has been know to treat oragnizations like his bitch and come and go as he pleases. Please don't go that route the thing I have always said about Brown is that he is a very good coach. But he can not be trusted to stay a long period or to see a team through to maturity. Besides you know and I know that he doesn't play the young players so what do you do with them draft them and turn them into front row spectators. He isn't coming here he is just using the kNicks as a ploy once again similar to what Phil did. Remember Phil going on about this is his dream job and all the crap that came from his azz to up the ante on the Lakers side well Brown knows the NYK situation better than most and he will entertain to get a better offer else where.
