The new CBA, as has been discussed, will bring about a new minor league basketball allocation strategy. You can now send guys down to the minors. Players like Blatche, Bynum, Martynas, and other super raw talents will now be able to get minutes and get paid.

The strategy may already have caused some teams to think about trading down into the second, to fill their rosters with young talent that has upside.

Who will be on our junior roster? Would you be willing to trade down with #30? Who would you have your eye on with a trade down?

Perfect spot for someone like Jackie Butler for this year. The 2nd rounder would go there for sure.

Maybe they should make the draft 3-4 rounds now...

Finally! Great news for basketball fans. Now, I hope they have a good strategie about how teams can use their prospects and send them up or down. Great to finally have a minors in the NBA! Now, lets pick Bynum with the 8th pick! Haha! Im kidding, please, lets not talk about him on this thread!

I sort of like the new rules.....I definitely like the fact that we can get compensated for the lost of a guy like Houston...15 men on the active roster,,,,,that sounds pretty good to me..

Butler put up 21/12 in the CBA. I'd like to see him get minutes in the NBA next year rather than the minor leagues

What if Buttler outplay Sweetney for the PF position, do you think that Isiah may orchestrate a trade to get Sweet out of town??? Like he said, he is not married to anyone...

That is why we can't afford to bring Herb back...For sure Buttler will not get any minutes, especially if Kurt is still in town....It is imperative for Isiah to find a new home for Kurt...

I would package KT and Sweets in the same package to get a mid-to high first rounder and a player. I think this is the best option regardless of Butler.

What I don't like is that two NBA teams will share the same NBDL team... Hopefully there will be a time when teams will have their own NBDL team...

Our options are getting even better with what had transpired yesterday...The Mo T and Malik deal may turn out to be very clever after all..

Unless you are telling me that they are also increasing the draft rounds, how does the Taylor deal hurt you. Now you can just as easily acquire a player who didn't get drafted as a FA and just assigned him as a minor leaguer. I don't know the contract structure for undrafted FAs but it could prove to be more valuable to both teams and players. I mean it is sort of strange, who would want to get drafted in round 2, while you can sign with any team as an unrestricted FA. Very interesting. Does anyone know if they raise 1st round picks salaries by significant margin?

mo picks mo picks mo picks...

that's what we need...mo picks...

with the minor leagues in tow - we need to use our $$$'s to get as many 2nd round picks as possible to stash away there...ESPECIALLY THIS YEAR!!!!

One question: How many players can a NBA team have on their minor league teams? We aren't talking about teams having their own minor league team since they will have to share it with another NBA team... It isn't like we can sign 12-15 young players...

Now I have a question of my own. Are we still going to be able to buy or trade for mid-late first rounders? If teams will be able to develop the kids for a couple years, why give it away for the garbage we're offering?

Matt.. good point.

I think in terms of Minnesota, they see no one able to help them immediately at #14. They are going to make one last run around Garnett, they need role players and cap room to sign that big second option via Free Agency next year. Kurt is a good role player, and would be really good next to Garnett. He's not exactly garbage. I would be a proponent of Kurt, #30, and cash.

Memphis is the same, they view the cap room as more important. They have tried to go the draft pick route. It hasn't worked. They need a bona-fide superstar to plug in next to Gasol. To help this, they need to get rid of White Chocolate.

The implications of Luxury Tax on Franchises without big revenue streams is also a move to bribe teams to take these contracts away.
This is big for teams like Minnesota and Memphis.. teams without deep pockets, not willing to take huge losses.

Getting another pick either in the mid first or in the high 2nd round should be a priority now. I'd happily say KT or whoever else bye bye
for one...
