Quite a good read, shows you how many of these players like Vasquez and Splitter that really don't pan out. Theres very small percentage of Euro players that come over and have the impact that the Dirks, and Pejas do.

good stuff. I remember a little while ago everyone and their mother wanted to draft a foreigner like Martynas & Petro over a playing with a much higher ceiling and nba ready. Luckily some of us were able to turn that false notion around of "euro is better" while guys like Amare, Wade, Mcgrady, Pierce, Artest were being overlooked. Guarantee you teams aren't making those same annual mistakes this time around. guys like green, granger, bynum, graham, wright, webster & warrick are getting picked in the lottery over the Martynas & Petro 7footers of the world.

You have to compare proportionally.

You can't compare how many American college players made to how many Euros made it.

You have to compare the percentage of American college players that get drafted that make an impact and that of Euros.

Otherwise you are comparing apples and oranges.

In my opinion (no I did not do any kind of statistical analysis on this, but maybe someone like Hollinger did, I'll look it up one day when I have time lol) the percentages would be about the same.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

yeah but a lot more college/HS guys make it than the small percentage of foreign players who pan out and by small I mean very small. If you want to take a chance on a Forein player use a later pick and you might strike lightning and land an Illgaukus or a Kristic. Don't waste your lottery or mid 1st round pick on one when there are tons of great college an High School players on the board every year
