I did read he is working out for team... ours included. He's a little small but has more promise than Jermaine Jones.

actually... the guy I was harping on was Charlie Bell, who's playing in Europe.

However Troy would be a good backup PG for us. He was a SICK scorer and hard nosed player for BC. In fact a couple of years ago when he was drafted I think he was the highest ranked athlete in the draft camp. Graham was this years, NAte Robinson last years.

Charlie Bell is in Europe and is playing like one of the top 5 players in all of Europe. You can see a bunch of video clips of him if you want; along with Fran, Tiago and some of the others. I forget where the link is.

He was 2nd in MVP voting and he's only 26 years old.

Was watching Charlie Bell on NBATV he looks like he finally learned how to play. He desperately wants to get back in the league.

I read the exact opposite. He basicly said that while he's not a millionair he's still playing ball for about $350k a year and thats a pretty good living. People love him over there and his family is very happy. If I could find the interview I would post it, but I have no idea.
He also said of course he would love to play in the NBA, but he wasnt going to miss a year in Europe for a non-guarenteed roster invite. Remember they start earlier over there and play a shorter season.

my point was I think he's much better than Daryll Armstrong who was very good after he got his shot. Bell is bigger, younger and more explosive. He's a poor man's Arenas (Euroclone). He run the offense, scores about 25 a game and is one of the best defenders in his league.

There is NO WAY he would say no to a 3 year $3mm deal. That could be a real steal. If not we can eat that money or just trade him.

yes... Jerry West traded to draft Bell and Dahntay Jones. The thought was he took Bell to high. Seeing as how he's out of the league I would say thats fair.

I like Charlie because he's regarded as a great defender and has size to be a combo guard. Troy Bell was a great scorer but he's smallish. Like a Juan Dixon

I wonder how much grief in memphis West gets for picks like that? just wondering...

it wasnt a great draft... just goes to show that guys make mistakes. My big knock on Isiah has been the flexibility. Better to make a mistake on like that then a guy making $10mm a year.

there were better players but aside from Josh Howard no huge mistakes.

he's no

do *something*

He's got much more to work with this draft. He's got Ariza and Sweetney, he's big expiring deals, he's got 3 picks, he's got a future (extra) pick and of course he's got cash. Its a VERY deep draft. We have seen him wheel and deal and take on huge amounts of $$$ in so so players. How about using some of the cash to build us a real pipeline. Lots of teams need cold hard cash. The Knicks need young players and REAL prospects.
Jackie B is nice little pony, but Bynum is a million dollar bet on Secretariat. Its nice that Isiah is looking around for pony sales, but we really need some thoroghbreds that can run. Bynum, Frye, Warrick, Granger, Graham, Hodge, Warrick, Blatche... go get me 3 of those and I will post nothing but kool-aid worship for 3 years.

He might get fired if he uses BOTH picks on Warrick. :P

Just kidding. I agree with the logic, but being realistic, he could pick three of those doing something like Frye, Hodge and Blatche and I would not be happy. The #8 is the most important one. We have to get that one right or it's going to be a huge setback.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Would anyone be happy or dissapointed if we did something like, Bynum, Webster and Nate Robinson?

I remember I really wanted to get Troy Bell with the 31st pick a couple of years ago, but he was picked at like, #15. I was ecstatic about Lampe though. I was actually on the verge of giving Layden some praise until the damn Keith Vsn Horn trade.

Solace... I can deal with a setback if its following a plan. Not all picks work out. I trust his eye for talent. What plan is adding Mo Taylor and Vin Baker a part of?

Believe me, I didn't ask for Mo. I didn't mind Vin, since we got him for free the one year, but the Vin extension was kind of annoying.

Anyway... yes, there has to be a plan. However, part of the plan has to say, look... we have to draft guys who can be starters. We can't afford to draft three bench players/busts with these picks. A setback is one thing, but I'm not even 100% convinced that Channing Frye is an NBA starter. I'd be very disappointed with that pick.

One thing I am happy about is that Taft's stock has fallen so heavily. No chance of us making the mistake of taking Taft now.

Frye may not have star potential, but he definatly can play a very important role in this league, especially with an uptempo team.

Not a disaster, but a bit of a chicken sht pick imo

depends on what else happens... I will judge his draft as a whole, not just by one pick
