this is this year's Lampe. I have a strong feeling he's going to plummet and be around when we pick 30. He's got a huge buyout issue so non lottery teams will have to wait at least a year for him. That would include us but this is something I have no problem with.

I 100% believe there will be a good ready to contribute player at 30. A guy like Hodge, Nate Robinson, maybe a HS kid like Louis Williams or Monta Ellis (not ready but good prospect). None of which are 7'2 with half the upside this kid has.

Its a tough choice... we have a lot of needs and we could fill one here but this is an interesting development and may be very hard to pass up.

Thoughts?

It's an interesting gamble. But what if a guy like McCants or Blatche falls?

I'm very excited about the 30th pick, I think we're going to have quite a few very good options. There are way too many guys saying they're in the first round right now...

Could even come down to Martynas or Andray Blatche at #30. If the Knicks pass on Frye and go for a SF/SG at #8 I would grab either of these bigs at #30.

thats what I mean... I love Blatche, and if McCants is there is VERY tough to pass on him. Same would go for Gomes and Hodge.

I might be inclined to bite the bullet and take this kid. God forbid he explodes in 1 year overseas. Whats his downside? Krstic? Thats a usefull player to have.

I have to believe Isiah will have to go big with #30 if he passes on Frye. Or if it's Frye and McCants is there at #30 grab him!

McCants at 30 would be a steal

Krstic may one day be an all-star. He put up great numbers against Shaq and Miami in the first round. He doesn't have a look of toughness, but he's pretty effective.

MA is tall... and he supposedly is a pure shooter. That solves 2 needs in 1. I think the Rik Smits comparisons might be high best upside.

As a late lottery pick, if he turned out as good as Shawn Bradley in a good year, I would be pretty happy (esp as a late 1st rounder!)

For reference, in his best overall season (96-97), Bradley averaged 13.2ppg, 8.4rpg, 3.4bpg... excellent numbers for an NBA center. Between 94-99... he averaged over 8rpg and well over 3bpg...

Wasn't this guy projected to have the biggest upside out of all these guys like 2 months ago. I think if he is at 30 you take him because he is coming off the board before 54.

Sounds like Nate pumped up to round 1, above 30. Who knows about this kid Martnas, his neck looks like it is 3 inches long. Like Freddy Blassy used to say, we don't need pencil necked geeks.

Blatche will most likely be gone before pick 30.

McCants==lottery talent, almost high lottery talent, but X factors drop him. Would be a steal at 30, but how will he fall that far? I thought for sure 10-18

This is still about an 18 or 19 year old kid, 7-2 240 and has been working out with Sabonis. He outplayed a lot of his contemporaries like Perovic etc. last year. His stock has lost its luster this year but he has to be seriously considered in the first round, and at 30 its almost a no brainer. He might not be ready to contribute for a couple of years, but he really could be something.
