Steven Hunter's agent, Marc Bartelstein, said his client still plans to pass on his $745,000 option. Hunter wants to stay with Phoenix but is not interested in the $1.7 million exception slot.

"I think Steven's value is much higher than that," Bartelstein said.

He said his other Suns client, Jake Voskuhl, is undecided on his $1,875,000 option. Suns President and General Manager Bryan Colangelo said it is likely Voskuhl will pick it up.

Why? What has he done? He's never averaged over 5 ppg and never averaged over 3 rbg, but he is worth over 1.7 million!!! I guess yall dont realize that we suck and adding him is not going to make us much better. Lemme guess yall want Desagna Diop too.

i agree w/Cook here...Hunter's not done anything to warrant earning anywhere close to a MLE level contract...if you can't sign him for a LLE, then take a pass i say.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

The dude is still young,,,,he has a much better upside than Kwame....To tell you the truth, I would much rather pay him the MLE than Kwame...He doesn't have an attitude problem, and there is no telling whether or not he will not turn out into a star in this league...Let him work with Agwire and see what he can get out of him...One thing is for sure, the Knicks need to have 3 true 7's on our roster

Lets make you all smile now:

The Knicks take C Frye with the 8th pick, then sign Hunter to be his backup. Man, the Knicks would be tall again! wow!

Or what about taking Wright with #8th, moving # 30 up so we can grab Petro, and then signing Hunter?

Nah i wont be eating anything. I can understand signing him as a back up but he's shouldnt get over 1.7 mill. Hunter isnt even better than Nazr.

My guess - Hunter gets TWICE 1.7 per at least. Go ahead and call me out if I'm wrong, but I don't think I will be.

3 years at about $3million per? what did that Foyle get from GS?

I think Hunter didn't get a lot of time with the Suns because of the style of play the suns played- I mean, if Amare is your starting center, what kind of minutes should the back up expect?

I'd be happy to get two solid wings in the first round and have a hunter as our c. I think he would give you decent numbers as a starter with good minutes and having a real c would allow KT & Sweets to spend more of their time at their natural position, helping them out.

Hunter would provide some decent defense too.

LOL! It's your forum; so I'll be nice and just politely decline the request to bookmark the web page!

On the topic: I have no problem with adding Hunter. That's the kind of young athletic player that the team should be targetting. That said, I'd prefer Kwame for the MLE.

Huunter shouldn't get the whole MLE, but in a league starved for size, he just might. I give him 3 million per. He played Tim Duncan well while he was in, what more can you ask for?

He s tall and long and is decent on defense, blocks shots, and has a way to go on offense, I'd take that over Nazr, who didnt block shots and sucked on D.

I will go as far as betting with you all that Hunter will be a Knick if Phoenix doesn't re-sign him...Zeke will offer him the MLE or a part of it and the deal will be done...We will have the tallest front line next season....guaranty..

if they thought he was anything better than a 25mins player they would've started him instead of playing a severely undersized frontline. I wouldn't give him more than $2.5mil

I wouldn't give him any more that 2.6 million but, if he wants, I would give him 3 million.

Hunter is a good gamble. He's very long and athletic. He's young and he plays very hard and comes into camp in great shape. He has a definate upside. These guys are more about impact than numbers. The value of having a long shot blocker to patroling the post goes way beyond the 7 points and 7 rebs in 28 minutes he will give you.

I would say 3 years and $10mm of the MLE. Go to 12 is its a much. Use the rest to lock up Ariza. Thats a smart investment. We paid Vin Baker $8mm... we can afford $3mm for a 24 year old with some legit upside.

hahahaha, you know voskul was going to take his offer, Hunter is going to get more than 1.7, I am afraid that after his showing with the suns this year, the knicks don't stand a chance in a bidding war for this kid.. Does he get more than the MLE? will some team offer him that? The hawks might get desperate if they can't sign any other big name FA's..

Hunter has been reported to have adult ADD, and his inability to learn anything in Orlando his rookie year, and his continued failure to execute plays on any kind of consistent basis, should be a big red falg.

If you think Stormile Swift is a dumb player, he is prolly a rocket scientist compared to Hunter.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?
