Nbadraft.net rumor...

draft buzz...
Minnesota Shopping Pick

"The 14th pick is being shopped by the Timberwolves who apparently have grown used to not having first rounders after not having one in 3 out of 4 years, after the Joe Smith illegal contract agreement.

If the Timberwolves could add a shooting guard such as Martell Webster or Antoine Wright at 14, they would gladly hold onto their pick. But since both will be long gone by the time they select, they are actively shopping the pick.

The T-Wolves will move the pick to a team willing to take on a bad contract such as Wally Szczerbiak's. So far there has been some interest, possibly the Knicks, who just can't seem to spend enough."

Take Szcerbiak off their hands, get #14. A great pick that could net Ukic, Petro, Diogu, Blatche, Bynum..

great post rain. It shows you how active Isiah is trying to get another first round pick. I don't understand Timberwolves though, but like the article says. If you have been doing it so long without one, but that age limit could be rough unless it that 19 year limit.

This would be a perfect scenario.

NYK Trades Jamal Crawford, KT, JYD for Wally, Hassell, Kandi Man, 14th pick.

Draft the following...
8 - Granger (Again, only because I think Vazquez is gone)
14 - Bynum
30 - Turiaf (Unless Taft does a Lampe)
54 - Lucas Tishcer (Flip-Flopping right now between him and Moussa Badiane)

Keep TT and see if we can get something substantial or just let his contract expire.

Buyout Penny.

Starting for the NYK
C - Bynum
PF - Sweetney
SF - Ariza
SG - Wally
PG - Marbury

Bench - Granger, Mo T, Turiaf, Kandi, Rose, Hassell, TT

IR - Houston, Tischer, Butler

Trade ID 2427226
Kurt Thomas
Maurivce Taylor
(combined 40 million till their contracts expire)

for
Wally Sczerbiak
Olowakandi
#14
(52 million over their contracts and only about 6 million of that is olowokandi)

If we are to make any trade for wally including the #14 this one is the best one. We take on only 10 million more over 4 years, we get the best player and we get a late lottery in a deep draft. AND we rid ourselves of 2 pf's from our roster. There is no reason why a move like this shouldn't make us much better, with the picks and an actual sharpshooter and a 7 foot backup stiff.

Here is another less hopeful scenario.

Wally
Olowakandi
#14

For
Penny

trade id: 2427201

Kandi expires same time as penny.
Money-wise it boils down to paying Wally 36 mill for 3 years or 12 mill per for his last years which is too much, but isnt the worst thing in the world, he is a good player, who would excel playing with Steph offfensively. Obviously we would have to tighten up our frontline considerably tho.

This would be great IMO. We'd solve the problem of getting a shooter. We'd be able to get a quality big man at one of the 2 picks (Bynum, Frye, Taft, Blatche, Petro etc.) And we could also get a nice SF like Granger or Graham.

DOn't mind takign Wally's money to really infuse the team with 2 young, core players.

- KT, TT, Sweetney & #30 pick for Wally, Cassell & #14 pick

- Penny & #54 pick for Jalen Rose & #16 pick

#8 - Greene
#14 - Bynum
#16 - Warrick

ladies & gentlemen, your NEW YORK KNICKS!

C - Butler / Bynum
PF - Warrick / Rose / JYD
SF - Wally / Greene / Ariza
SG - Crawford / Rose
PG - Marbury / Cassell
IR - Mo T / Houston

star PG in his prime coupled w/a big, young bruising presence in the middle, complemented by some crafty vets who are clutch in Rose, Wally & Cassell along w/Malik & JYD who do the dirty work...that mixed w/some young, athletic horses on the wings in Warrick, Greene, Ariza & Crawford...that's a team i'd love to watch every single night, regardless if they won or lost.

I like it, but can you honestly say Jackie is any more ready to start than Butler? Both will need some work.

Is this a trick question?

And has anyone noticed how marvelous my trade scenario was?

Yes. You're scenario is exactly what I was thinking. KT+ to get Olowakandi or dump Penny. I think that would work beautifully.

no, but i figure the 19 year old will be more ready than the kid fresh out of HS at least...that's not to say Bynum wouldn't have a shot at beating out Butler...i haven't seen jack from Butler to convince me he's a legit C in the NBA anyway...just saying it's at least a team w/future potential & progressing towards a definite goal...it's also much more balanced than it is now.

Killa,

Your scenario above is what I hope could happen. Pass the chicken feet

#8 - Bynum, #14 - Blatche, #30 - Julius Hodge, #54 - Stoudemire

Our Roster
C - Bynum/Butler/Blatche
PF - Sweetney/ Rose/Tiny Tim/Butler
SF - Ariza/Wally/JYD/Tiny Tim
SG - Wally/Crawford/Hodge/Stoudemire
PG - Marbury / Hodge/Crawford
IR - Stoudemire/ Houston & Olowakandi cycle on the IR, Buyout Penny

That would be great size for now and the future. Hodge adds stability behind Marbury at the point. Stoudemire and Wally add the shooting touch missed from H20. Yup, make it happen.

I think the only trade the works is Tim Thomas for Wally and the 14th. The twolves are going to want the cap room ASAP, and Timmy gives them that.

I think any scenario in which the Knicks add Wally and the 14th is a steal though.

Something like KT/TT or Penny for Hudson/Olowakandi/Zerbs and the 14 would work as well, and probably would entice Minny because they'd stay in contention and dump a ton of money.

love the trades but minnesota gets left with nothing! They've got to rebuild- if they're looking to move the pick, I'd think it was to move up, not just dump salary and not have a pick.

they're looking to rebuild through Free Agency and trades, not the draft. the article says that and other MN articles have said the same thing. they've been lookign to dump Wally for years. This deal gives them major cap space after next season and also the option to move TT at the deadline to a desperate club. They would have $20 million in cap room at the end of next year if they did traded TT for Wally. That might be worth a draft pick to them.

I've said it before that if we're going to give teams incredible cap space, then let them pay a fair price. Wonder if Isiah is shopping to get the highest mid range first round pick he can.

Add three quality rookies in this draft, and we've got something started. Just watch out with our cap number.

Wally would be a perfect role player here at the 2 or 3 for some outside shooting

Boozer and #6
Wally and #14
#19 from Memphis

Now THESE are the kind of rumors I actually like reading. Even that trade idea for Rose and #16 up there. If we can get any of these to go down, I will be content for the summer.

Here we go again!
Whenever there's a trade or a rumor, we're in the thick of it as usual. I believe that GMs use us to test the waters and then go ahead and make a better deal elsewhere. That's why Isiah's job is so tough. Everybody wants to use us, but nobody wants to trade fairly with us. We are the high-priced whore of the NBA.
This rumor...like all the others that come and go....will never happen. The ONLY way for us to get better is to get creative and lucky through the draft and hire the right coach to get the most out of the talent that Zeke assembles. All this other crap is just hype to maintain interest and give fodder for message board junkies like us. I ain't buying none of it!
ZEKE! GROW A SET OF BALLS AND DRAFT BYNUM!!!!!!!!The fact that the Lakers are apparently in love with him has to tell you something! Then....get another top 20 pick by hook or by crook and draft, develop with patience, draft!
We will NEVER win with Marbury as our cameo guy.

I think also the writers out there can always say that if a team is looking to dump salary, the knicks must be involved- but you I think right in the way other teams look to take advantage of us.
