Im just going to re-iterate that if Jim Calhoun thinks you will be a high lottery pick, that holds more water than anyone I can think of. Charlie V was laughed at when he tried his workout, and 2 years later is likely a top 10-15 pick. Im staying firm whther Bynum goes back to school, stays in the draft and gets picked perhasp late, that eventually he will end up as a top 3 prospect in this draft. Im quite sure he hasnt worked out well against other players in these private workouts or atleast not to the quality of a top pick adn i fully understand that a team doesnt want to sit on anyone with risk, but the end result will soem day be that this kid is a 7-2 to perhaps 7-4 when done growing 290-320 pound athletic C who will be a top flite nBA C. I said fron the beginning that I believed his brother was the conduit to him going through this process because I think the kid sees $$$$$ right now, but his best devlopment is school. UConn coach Jim Calhoun said he has told Andrew Bynum he should not remain in the NBA draft if he is not guaranteed a spot in the top 10.

"If he is not going to be in the top 10 he should come back to college," Calhoun said Wednesday. "I've told Andrew this and I've told his brother this."

Calhoun's words appear to reframe earlier comments that appeared in a state paper indicating he did not think Bynum would be selected in the top 10.

"I've been asked where he would go in the future if he comes to UConn and I've said that he has the potential to eventually be a top-five pick," Calhoun said. "But what I have always said is that if someone says they are going to take him in the top 10, it would be awfully tough to tell him he should pass that up."

Calhoun has credibility on this issue.

He has advised other players to leave UConn early, including Charlie Villanueva, who appeared to be a likely late first-round pick but is now expected to be drafted between 10th and 15th.

And he has convinced others, including Richard Hamilton and Caron Butler, to stay another year and that helped each of their draft positions.

Bynum, a 7-foot, 280-pound center from Metuchen, N.J., signed a letter of intent to attend UConn in November. He worked out for about 20 teams June 4 and is expected to practice for at least three others in the next week.

Although several NBA scouts have said Bynum is expected to be selected in the first round, which means a guaranteed contract, few have suggested he would be taken near the top of the draft. Most consider Bynum likely to be taken by a team with multiple first-round picks and somewhere late in the first round.

Even so, a guaranteed three-year contract might be enough to entice Bynum, despite his insistence he will attend UConn unless he is guaranteed a high draft spot.

The deadline for Bynum to withdraw from the draft is June 21.

If the Knicks had another first round pick in the 15-25 range Bynum would be a nice developmental pick. Unless he blows away the Knicks at his workout, I just don't see him going to the Knicks at #8 but I doubt he'll last until the 30th pick.
