Other team seem content on picking players with no head coaching experience....or guys that have been out the loop for years.

Brian Hill is back in Orlando.

The T-Wolves picked up a Sonic assistant.

Cheeks is Philly's head coach.

There are more obviously but I can't remember off hand.

Anybody know who they want as coach?

Guess who I want:

who cares?

at the end of the day our line up will be

C- Kurt Thomas
PF Mike Sweetney
SF Tim Thomas
SG Jamal crawford
PG S Marbury
C Frye
PF Taylor
F Rose
F JYD if Herb is here
G lets say Luther Head pick 30
G Karl Krauser pick 54

so what is the big deal about the coach? the hope for the team will be that Crawford and sweetney have changed their bodies and frye can give us a tad of length off the bench.
i dont see much change here in terms of W-l and like I said last year, the flow of talent coming into eastern teams has put us in a bad situation because our talent base is older, slower with very little in terms of defense and shot blocking+overall team athletiscm.

Thats why, for 1 Im more willing to gamble than others.
the coach is just a lame duck position

Look at the Cavs with Silas and then without him. Coaches matter even for a mediocre team.

if zeke had done his homework and made the coaching choice a little more selective who knows, knicks could've had a winning season.

but to backtrack and get laimbeer is to conjure up the bad boy
days.... and in keeping ny's identity real lets not clone detroit.

i like bobby knight......and i wonder if ex-knick, mark jackson could be considered

so what is the big deal about the coach?

all your lottery picks would be nothing more but roster fillers.

btw, if you're not a gambling person......don't start now

it's herb.
it's always been herb.
it'll always be herb.

there really is no need for anybody else.

pick a style of play, draft players for it, THEN get the coach to teach it.

Herb only wants to teach veterans good luck with our backup Vets. He will go far with them maybe to the promise land. Herb is a joke the man doesn't have a clue to teaching basketball and he won't teach the young guns on the Knicks anything. Herb is the most useless coach out there and guess what the KNicks are great at useless players and coaches. There is no way Herb should be the head coach of a 103 million dollar team no way. Isiah needs to get a coach that will last and he has to go out of the NYK organization to get it.

I feel that Isiah once again played the NYK fans with Phil he had no intention of bringing Phil here and Phil had no intention of taking on a NYK team with no superstars which Isiah has not brought here. I don't want to here Marbury is a superstar because he isn't. Just like Dolan and his visit to recruit Kobe this is all a joke to make NYK fans think that they are doing something but we all know they have no juice to get it done.

Isiah can not bring Herb as the NYK coach I refuse to buy into Herb It doesn't take a basketball genious to know that Herb is a hack he has no style and the players don't want him. You know something is wrong if H20 is asking for Herb why because he Knows Herb will play the Vets and H20 no matter how washed up he is is going to get serious run.

Do not bring Herb! unless you want another coaching change in mid season.

That's why I'm glad Phil Jax went back to LA.. now we can get a real coach

speaking of Jax, what happened to Mark Jackson? Didn't he want to coach?

Aren't Carlisemo and Flip Saunders still in the running?

Oh well, the NBA will be locked out anyway, so we'll have lots of time to search

I hope that Isiah surprised everyone by announcing that Herb will not be the coach for this team next season...That would be welcome news to me and many.

Mark Jackson is another one. I wonder if he is still interested in coaching. I would imagine that he would love to coach the Knicks.

Bill Laimbeer is the guy I want because of his personality. Herb is too cool and old school. I don't think Herb has the ability to rally the troops. He doesn't single guys out in the huddle and light a fire under guys. Bill Laimbeer walks with confidence and he totally eats up the media whenever he is being interviewed. I think he would motivate these Knicks to over achieve.

Bill even though he has only coached WNBA players seems to like a more cutting style of basketball. He has those girls moving and puts alot of pressure on the team. I think he would come in and put guys into roles and let Marbs and Craw dictate the offense.

Watch a Detroit Shock game and see if you can catch a Bill Laimbeer post game interview. I think the guy is going to be a good coach somewhere if not the Knicks.

If it goes down to experience then Flip Saunders is the guy. He's not a motivator but it seems he knows how to use the talent he has. Marb loves him too so that would be a good idea.

I agree with you a 100%...Let's pray that Zeke finds the gutt to get rid of Herb, because it looks to me that dude will be around for a little while..

Before mark thinks about coaching in the league he should first see if SJU could use some help recruiting. I think if Herb is replace with Jackson that would be very insulting. Some Knick fans don't even know who Mark Jackson is or was so this stuff about ex-Knicks are overrated. Might as well stick with Herb for that reason but I thought it was about getting a winning attitude in there. I think that Bill will be perfect. I know this guy will be extremely demanding of his players. Thank god, we didn't get Phil did you hear his press conference, it came more off like he was try to help himself feel at peace not get that team back to the finals. PJ is still a viable choice, I know Isiah wants Larry Brownbag but I don't trust him, he will make changes and not be around to honor his contract, especially now that he has his ring.

When can we get our eyes off the coach. What if we hire Pat Riley or Rudy T and we continue to lose? What then? Fire Pat? Everything is past them? Or when are we either gonna look deep in the roster or philosophy of management. ou know, what's funny is this. I can totally see Isiah trying to hire Phil Jackson, we lose and Isiah blames Phil, his rival, for totally messing up with his "Plan."

after reading the ny times piece on PJ, wouldn't mind him getting a shot here- otherwise, briggs assesment holds some weight- this team needs talent to get to the playoffs- the current ensemble is not going to get it done, even with god as coach.

Sure, the right coach might get them to overacheive and then its another first round exit.

Get me to the lottery again next year, and the year after. Get me some more draft choices and get some significant playing time for Ariza, Sweets and whamever we end up with this summer.

unless god is Pat Riley. Took over Stu Jackson's sorry 90-91 team to 2nd in Atlantic Division with a tight race with Bird's Celtics, and to game 7 versus the defending NBA champs, Bulls. Not bad for god.

I don't think our current roster is as good as that one was.
