David Stern: "With the #1 pick in the 2002 Draft, the New York Knicks select .. Yao Ming from the Shanghai Rockets, China"

...

New York trades:
PG Howard Eisley
SF Shandon Anderson
PF Othella Harrington

New York receives:
C Greg Ostertag
C John Amaechi
SG John Starks (sign and trade)

TRADE ID = 548750

Utah gets two players who knows Sloan's system very well .. Anderson and Eisley flourished under Sloan and what better to complement Stockton and Malone's possible last run than having the team that went to the Finals back together .. Utah also gets Othella Harrington, a cheap back-up PF who bangs down low, something Utah lacks in their line-up .. Utah also gets rid of headcase Ostertag and their FA mistake Amaechi ..

...

David Stern: "With the #36 pick in the 2002 Draft, the New York Knicks select .. Jiri Welsch from the Czech Republic"

...

New York trades:
PG Charlie Ward
PF Clarence Weatherspoon

New York receives:
SF Lamond Murray
PG Bimbo Coles
SG Bryant Stith
C Michael Doleac

TRADE ID = 548763

A stretch but it could happen .. Cleveland gets the back-up PG help that Andre Miller needs in Ward .. Ward's contract, which expires in 2004, also helps because it gives them flexibility to sign Miller if he asks for the max .. Cleveland gets Clarence Weatherspoon too, who bid for his services until New York gave him a much nicer contract .. Cleveland gets rid of unwanted players in Doleac, Coles and Stith .. Murray's departure opens up playing time for Ricky Davis and Jumaine Jones at the SF position ..

...

What makes you think the Knicks will get the #1 pick. With a 4.3% means 95.7% greater chance they won't!
