This situations is looking errie similar to 1985 when Ewing was drafted. Stern conducted that draft too even though I dont think the lottery was in place. Ewing was Donned the savior of NY. He was supposed to bring NY serveral rings but brought none to Gotham. Its interesting ESPN article compare him to Dirk Nowitkski just like I did. In actually he looks like Wilt Chamberlain now that I think about it.

I think Yao Ming is as close a savior as you're going to get. We need to worry about getting him first. Did anyone watch his work-out on ESPN2? I heard parts of it were being televised or something. I also heard he was very impressive.

There is no question that he has a lot of potential. I think the only thing that can slow him down are injuries. He's wider than Bradley and Bol and is more athletic than Muresan. His shooting is exceptional for his size. His shot-blocking abilities are evident. He has good foot-work so he can score inside. I think he is the #1 pick, Jason Williams is very nice but there's never been a 7-5 center like Ming...

What I see is most impressive is he can step out on offense and DEFENSE. Most tall centers like Mutombo get crossed the heck out of beyond the free throw line. He was able to face and keep up with his man.
