Sorry for another Frye thread, but it's a topic of major interest - at least to some of us. If you open this link and scroll down, you'll get to the excerpt below.

Frye is hot

University of Arizona center Channing Frye tried to shoot down rumors that he already has a top-10 guarantee (possibly Golden State at No. 9). He said he would have no problem working out for the Magic.

Initially thought to be a late first-round pick, Frye's stock is rising dramatically after a dominating NCAA tourney. With power-agent Rob Pelinka representing him, Frye could secure a draft guarantee. Then he wouldn't have to spend the next two weeks criss-crossing the country working out for teams at the bottom of the lottery.

"There's nothing to it and I have no problem going to Orlando," Frye said. "Now there are places that I'd rather be over other places, and no, I can't say what they are. But I have no problem with Orlando and I'd love to play there."

The knock on Frye has always been his supposed lack of toughness. Even at 6-foot-11, 225 pounds, he is adept at running the floor and shooting the midrange jumper. But as he proved in the NCAA Tournament, he doesn't shy away from contact and can impact a game with his shot-swatting.

"I personally feel like I'm a real center," Frye said. "I get up and down the floor and shoot the jumper, so people think I'm a forward. But the stereotypical center was not created for a West Coast big guy. And if you play for (Arizona head coach) Lute Olson, you have to do the things I do. I've worked on my post game and I think I've improved."

I look at Frye as being possibly a more durable version of Camby. I thought Frye was more like 250-260 lbs vs Camby about 6-11 235. I always liked Camby but he really has no offensive game.Frye should have a better offense. I rather have Bogut (of course) and Bynum but think Zeke will take Frye unless Bynum wows him at his workout. I think Frye will definately help this team and be a good to very good player in the future. One thing we NEED to do is make a draft day involving at least one foward.- hopefully for some draft picks.

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

I thought Frye was up to 260 too. I don't know if it's muscle or artificial shor-term weight gain right before draft measurements that will go down. He should have gotten up to 260 a long time ago. He probably would be a top 3 pick if he'd been dominating last year as a 6'11" 260 center.

Hey Big Dawg:

Frye is polished offensively, Camby was not for much of his NBA career (some might say he still isn't polished).

Camby is a far better athlete. Disrupts teams with his weakside defense. Grabs rebounds nobody this side of Dennis Rodman would even pursue.

The Frye/Camby comparison doesn't hold water.

if he ends up 240-245 i'd be satisfied at this point. if you want a bruiser go with turiaf, if you want a guy solid if unspectacular in most aspects of the game frye is a good pick. if you want highest ceiling look at bynum or the wings available.

What is this he was rather skinny. He was 240-245 if you guys recall Pat Ewing, David Robinson and Hakeem were all in that range. Duncan is 260 and he came into the league at 250. Frye was 248 before his weight gain to 260. Another thing is I almost want Frye to be 250 rather than 260 this way he still will have his athleticism. Also Amare came into the league at 240. If you recall Camby came into the league at 215-220lbs and every one was makeing a big deal when he came into the season weighing 235 for NYK.

He measured 6'11'' in shoes you maybe right about him being 6'9'' without shoes.

Whether he's 6'10" or 6'11" doesn't concern that much, the more important statistic is what his wingspan/reach will measure out to officially.

and the fact that he said himself that he is a jumpshooter and we alread have KT. We need someone who will be a beast inside. Marbury is not getting any younger

If Frye measure out to 6-11, 250, and the Warriors are than in love with him, I see them trading up with Toronto or Utah...more possibly Utah...

maybe Girichek and the 6 for the 9, Pietrus, and Rodney White

We need to put together a trade proposal with Utah...I don't think that they are too satisfied with Okur, and the fact that he is very expensive makes him expendable. Besides who would want to play in Utah...Send Kurt and an expriring contract or TT and #30 to Utah for their earliest draft pick...

I am perfectly content at 8...I would rather add a pick than move up a pick in this particular draft.

I still think the Clips, Memphis, and Boston would make the best trading partners.
