I'm trying to think of realistic Isiah like scenarios that will both improve the team and get us closer to where we (as fans) want this squad. This isnt the direction I would go in but I think it would be the type of thing our beloved management would consider.

Pick 8 is a good pick, and this is a good deep draft, but is there a better player on board at 8 than Gooden? He's a legit 6'10, great on the boards, solid offensive player and 23 years old.

KT + Sweetney for Gooden and Eric Snow
TT + pick 8 for Gooden and Eric Snow

Snow isnt just a salary dump throw in for me. This is a solid role player that fills a huge need for us. There's a reason guys like Larry Brown love this guy. He's a clutch performer, a great defender and tough heady player. Something we have none of on the perimeter. He takes care of the ball and guards 2's as easily as 1's. Something very usefull with Crawford and Marbury on the roster.

Snow- closing in on 30
Gooden- nearly traded twice in three years (why? he's young, athletic). Nearly traded for Kurt last year. Despite his talent, he is not the sharpest tool in the shed, and doesn't endear himself to his team. A younger Tim Perhaps?

Snow is a good player, but we have to build for the future. The Eight pick, Thomas' contract, and Sweetney are the three most valuable chips in that deal, IMO.

No way...say no to Gooden please. Terrible, terrible defender and not good enough offensively to warrant giving up what you propose for him (and having to take Snow's awful contract back). Really, what does Gooden offer that Sweetney doesn't. Sweets can board at a very high rate. If given the right minutes (like the 31 Drew got) he could score well too. And the 6'10 vs. 6'8 almost has no bearing since Drew doesn't use that to his advantage on D anyway.

Several players at no.8 that are better than Gooden.

Drew Gooden is one of the very few mistakes that Jerry West has made. I don't want anything to do with him. I think VDes said it best, the guy doesn't use his size to his advantage and the fact that he couldn't take advantage of the Lebron factor, like Boozer did. I'll pass, I'd rather give Sweetney the oppurunity to start then take a chance on an over-rated player who people only remember for playing well back in Kansas about 5 years ago.

A younger Tim Perhaps?

Except Drew rebounds. I wouldn't give up the draft pick for nearly any non-all star player.

I would offer pick 54 + Kt for Gooden.

I think Gooden would mesh will with Marbury

yeah, gooden has issues, but replacing KT with him would be huge in moving us in the younger, more athletic direction. he's not the answer to our problems but i think he's a step in the right direction depending what we give up. KT and filler? Yes. Pick 8? No. Sweetney? Probably.

Getting him cheap is one thing, but paying a good price for him is not prudent.

He is a Gazy man with a rep for a big party posse.

I want better!

I would have no problem with something like KT + pick 30 + any crap on our roster the Cavs may want for Drew. Let's not forget that he is all of 23 years old. He is a solid player and his numbers are even better than KT's at his age. The cavs have a very solid investment if he ever decides to try harder.

he's a better rebounding, slightly better scoring version of TT. Like Nalod said, getting him cheap would be good. The #8 pick is too much to give up for him though.

I would take Gooden over KT any day. But I would just rather let Sweetney go and get some major run but I realize to do that would mean to dwindle down the PF spots to two or three. I would keep the following Sweetney starts, Rose Back up and Butler the project. Get rid of KT and Taylor and JYD can go also.

The Cavs player I'd like to get is Anderson Varejao. He's a smart player who bounds well and is very hard to stop when he has the ball. He put up some pretty good numbers for a rookie with 16 minutes of playing time. I'd give up Kurt or Malik plus the two first round picks we got in the Mohammed/Rose trade. We'd have to take another small contract to make the numbers balance.

me thinks many of you havent seen Gooden play much. A better version of TT? Not even close... please.

21,15,15,19,15,16,18

Those are some of his better rebounding games this year. His problem on defense is he gambles too much on steals, but he doesnt loaf there like TT does. Gooden also uses a power game as well as plays well on the perimeter.

Again... 23 years old and a SUPER versatile player player. He reminds me very much of Sheed Wallace at this point in his career. My biggest concern with Gooden would be his entourage of fools he has.

how can you say Jerry West made a mistake? He took the best player on the board (aside from Amare). Now they just had too many forwards with Swift and Gasol... all who played the 4. So he did what a GOOD gm would do. Took the best player and later used it to trade for Mike Miller and a first round pick.

Either way, interesting feedback.

Gooden - Good rebounder, disinterested defensive player, offensive skills are limited to put backs and alley-oops.

How about excellent rebounder...
How many cavs games have you seen? This guy is extremely talented on offense. What'd you do, watch the worst game he played this season? He can hit the jumper, and score INSIDE and OUTSIDE. That's not what I call limited.

Gooden is avery talented dude, but how would he help our squad, especially since we have a glute at PF""???? Don't get me wrong, I would trade for a combo of Drew and Illgaskus....or better yet, we can orchestrate a couple of trades that can better our team, look, Kurt and Penny to Utah for Okur and a pick......TT to Cleveland for Drew and a future first round draft pick...that would work in my opinion, because we would rid our team from a couple of bad apples..

Cleveland may want to deal...Why not send them Kurt Thomas for Drew Gooden and a future pick??? while at it, can we also deal with Utah for Mehmet Okur???
