Bynum came to play at my high school this year, and if you're smart you won't draft him. He couldn't drop 15pts on a bunch of 6'5" guys and left the game after airballing a free throw. Tell him to go to UConn under Calhoun, who we know has a knack for making big men (okafor, CV) and take him in 2-4 years as a great, big player with skills and knowledge of the game

sounds like your source might be a 15 year old snook who was dunked on by Andrew

It doesnt matter if we pick Channing Frye and Bynum either goes to Uconn or Memphis/Atlanta etal, hopefully Uconn, but at some point in the next two years when Channing takes another 16 foot jump shot and you see Bynum rips the basket of its hinges as Uconn runs out to a 19-0 record. some people are going to say, d*m! We took the finese player when we needed force.

Yeah but the question you have to ask is:
Would Bynum have developed into a monster on the NY Knicks? Or did he need that time in UCOnnn?

To me, the question is: Do we grab him when he is available (now) and see what comes out of it(All-star C or decent back-up C), or pass on him & draft Frye, and see what sort of monster player in Bynum we may have missed (again)?

Isiah and the Knicks brass will see and evaluate Bynum first hand pretty soon, so if they don't see a diamond in the rough, fine. But if they pass on Bynum because he's 2-3 yrs away from contributing even though they do see incredible potential, then that's a mistake. It's about a freaking time that we plan long term. I'm not too thrilled about this Frye rumor, but I do like the fact that the Knicks have worked out or will be working out guys like Granger, Graham, Wright, etc.

The other question is:

When is the the next time the Knicks will have the opportunity to draft a C who has the potential to be physically dominating?

He may be boom/bust, but sometimes you have to take the risk.

The problem with making a high risk pick is that the knicks need so many bodies that if Bynum is a bust, your setting the franchise back another year- and the clock is ticking on Marbury.

But, we do need to get a super talent to have any chance of getting to an nba championship again.

Isiah should do whatevers needed to get another pick

I will go back to the reasoning--a real good established big man would go top 3. A guy with lessseasoning with more potential, like an amare stoudemire ,a dirk, jermaine would fall to 8-16

i dont like frye's base strength, i question his mental and physcial tougness, I view him much more 4 than 5, putting him in that dreaded tweener status.

He's a very fundamental player and highly skilled on the offense in college. But the red flags are waiving on him, from numerous areas. he isnt an explosive athlete, but hes a good athlete, he has trouble at times holding position, at times he looks like a brilliant player, other times a ghost on the floor, to weak against even against guys of his own purported weight.

kind of scary to hear a guy say he is 100% better than he was after 4 years of college in 6 weeks. sounds more like he took some kind of enhancing performance supplements, but ultimately, you will lose unnatural gains, heck natural gains are hard enough to maintain right?

Good shooter, but I fear that he will be a cat[no pun intended] that stays 16 feet from the basket at his 6-11 ala Brian Cook

But there is hope that he can play up to his potential and hard because he has to. for him to succeed he has to bring it at 110% every night, and he hasnt proven he can do that at all.
