although it wont be for draft picks.

I would not mind trading Marbury and moving Jamal to 1. On another thread, they started saying Ray Allen, but I thought it would be for jamal, ariza sweetney pick 8 yadayada. But if Seattle was willing to do marbury for Allen staright up, I would do it. I would also do Marbury for Artest and a filler, or even especially Gasol. I would like to move Marbury and have Crawford at 1 and get something of different value for Marbury.

I agree with you 100% on trading Marbury and moving Jamal to the 1, however, I don't really go for your ideas of getting back Ray Allen or Ron Artest. I love Ray, and I love the type of game Artest brings, but they are both too risky. I would much rather go for DJsunycs plan or getting those picks, which leaves us with 4 first rounders THIS YEAR. We could come away with something like Bynum, Grahm, Warrick (Or Simien) and Nate Robinson. Not bad, right?

Well, we we do that, but the Knicks wont. we have to be reasonable thinking what they might do. Would I like to get something like Bynum Graham Simien Robinson--he** yeah, but the Knicks wont do it
they want a name brand guy that they believe can get them to the playoffs next year. thats why im afraid with this frye stuff, maybe they think that a sevricable frye can help get them to round 1

i guess now we know why everbody wants to trade marbury

he's like the next level kvh - he has the talent, and is elite, but people want to dump him b/c he just doesn't fit right.

my proposal of moving marbury was for 2 things - 1. to rebuild right away with more draft picks and 2. to clear cap space in 07 for lebron or someone like that.

i want to INFUSE this team with 3-4 rookies out of this draft. right now, we have 3 picks - 1 early, and 2 late.

moving marbury may give us 3 lottery picks in total - that would be a major coup in my books.

paul, deron, green, graham, warrick, bynum, petro, simien, splitter, granger, etc.

and we get 3 of them.

but knowing what we know about this team, marbury is off limits so we HAVE to move him to the SG. let jamal run the point, and let marbury say F y'all to everyone and let him go for his - which is what he does best. the offense WILL flow better.

Do you really believe Isiah would trade Marbury, it'll never happen.

earlier in the year, I made a proposal to trade Marbury for Maggette and Wilcox. I would still do that.

I think right now, especially if we are looking to inject some young energy that Marbury is important. Crawford isnt going anywhere. I would rather him play PG also, but we can make his role the backup PG and part time shooting guard. Let him develop there.

Marbury can make things very easy for young players we get. He plays hard and his attacking style on offense is something for young players to take note of. This guy is no cancer. He's got his faults but he's 20/8 player that shoots a good % and gets to the FT line.

I think eventually trading him for a pick and an expiring deal is a good future option, but thats premature in my opinion.

to marbury for ray allen straight up: HELL NO.
Allen has approached the magical age of 30. That is the age when most players begin to decline. In Allen, who is a shooter, that may be a slow decline (see Nash), but we are trading for a guy who is 3 years older than our current "franchise" player. If we get ray, he will probably have around 3 more good years before quickly deteriorating. It is not good to trade for guys 30 and over at this point, it's time to start over or trade for guys that are younger than the guys we are trading away.

i would do it. that gives me a big PG In Crawford and ray. Age means nothing here because both players came into the NBA at the same time. HOWEVER, I would only give Ray a 5 year deal, not 7. Marbury could be a much more broken down guy.

I like that backourt Crawford and Allen. Crawford can shoot less and look to pass more, and while no body is a greta defender in any sceanrio, allen and crawford have length.

I would do it if ray had a 5 yr contract. marbury has a lot of milega eon those wheels as well and he also has a big contract

I agree; Marbury should really elevate the performance of whatever young players the Knicks add. I wouldn't trade him, especially not now. Maybe I would some day when he's older or maybe I'd want him to retire as a Knick. It depends on how things work out. I'm against giving full time PG responsibilities to our worst decision-maker (Crawford) until he can demonstrate better decision-making at least as a part-time PG first. I agree with Tes, too; I'd never trade Marbury for Ray Allen or Artest. As for Gasol, I think you can get him and keep Marbury (that should be the goal) by taking back his huge contract and J Will's for expiring contracts and possibly including SA's pick next year or Sweetney or something else to sweeten the deal. That's about the max I'd offer for Pau. (It obviously wouldn't be my starting offer, though.)
