spree from golden state or artest from as recent as last season...who would you rather have?

i'm going with artest b/c he changes how the other team has to play the game.

Spree.

Ron blows up things at the wrong time. Even worse than the brawl are the untimely Techs, and he quit on the team last year in the playoffs.

Indy had Detroit in the bag and its unforgivable what Ron did.

Spree is an *******, but not to that degree.

they're very different players. How great would it have been to have BOTH if we drafted right in 99?

I think Spree has a more varied offensive game, while Artest is the more dominant defender. Spree is a solid defender, but would go through stretches where he would just kind of sleep on his man.

Ron Ron. He puts up similar numbers on the offensive end, while locking down and totally removing the other teams scorers. Spree doesn't do that. He plays good D, but he doesn't take people out of games, Ron-ROn does that. Ron is crazy tho, but thats part of what makes him so good.

Artest. They're both equally good scorers but Artest is the better defender.

I think what Spree did was worse. He choked his own coach (not in the heat of the moment hitting a fan). I don't know about Ron quitting on his team in the playoffs; he was playing with a hand injury and putting up good #s. In contrast, Spree quit on his team for the full season this year.

Artest not question about it. Artest gives you 20pts on a good team not like Spree's 24ppg on Golden State. And like Killa said not onl does he give you 20, he completely shuts down the other teams best perimeter player

given that artest might not make it to his prime (28) and still be playing in the league, have to vote for spree

And Bonn- what Nalod is referring to was those couple of uncalled for flagrant fouls that artest stupidly committed against the pistons that allowed them to win when they were down, what, 10pts with 2 minutes to go?

Spree. He was awesome! I remember him blocking Big Pat on a break away dunk. He was jawing at Pat and letting him now what he just did.

it's a great question. i'm inclined to go with sprewell, i think artest's offensive game is really awkward looking and not as effective, and i respect sprewell's D enough to give him the nod.

Artest won defensive player of the year over ben wallace last year. that alone is reason to take him over Spree. The only thing Spree was better at was running the floor whenever his head was right which is not very often

spree was a very good defender and offensively, at times, could go in a zone and take over a game.

artest has seriously improved offensively but will never take over a game or go on a streak on that end. he'll give you a solid 16-20 pts a night. but he's all world defense at 3 positions. oh, and one more thing, he likes to do naked pushups.

Artest averaged 20+ PPG last year despite playing some of the season with a torn ligament in his shooting hand. He was at over 24 PPG early this year before the suspension.

people tend to under-estimate how far Artest's offense has come

If its just their game and skill, Artest is better. If you take Artest's fits into consideration, u might wanna pick Spree.

If you tell me the Artest you are offering has no mental problems, like the real Artest, then I pick him. But thats not happening...
