1996 was a most facinating draft! http://www.basketballreference.com/draft/draftyear.htm?yr=1996&lg=n

I am amazed year in and year out how many mistakes teams make.

This is really not easy!

Fun to look back on some years and see whom panned out and who did not!

I agree its not easy, but we had 3 first round picks and didn't make a good selection with any of them. And there are a bunch of guys in the second round who had better careers than first round picks. What a year.

if there was EVER a time we could've packaged some picks to move up - that was the year.

wallace dropped for a reason but in my youthful state, i was going ballistic the knicks got him. but we soon found out why...

Eleven players from that draft have played for the Knicks. Doesn't that seem like a lot?

18 NYK John Wallace Syracuse
19 NYK Walter McCarty Kentucky
20 CLE Zydrunas Ilgauskas Lithuania

Thats SO funny! We had two chances of getting Ilgauskas that year, and look at who we picked! Haha! Terrible selections! Haha!

they didn't even consider looking into Z when they had Ewing putting up 23 & 10 at the time

You have to be pretty bad to have 3 first rounders and not pick a winner with any of them.

Considering that we still had Ewing and he had some good years left, I think the best pick might have been Jerome Williams after that. Big Z wouldn't have fit in any of the Knick teams from 1996- 2001. Moving up in that draft, however, would have been huge. We missed J/ O'Neal by 1 lousy pick.

we could have move up to get nash, bryant and peja, if management knew not to sign childs that year

We could have went with a Reggie Houston backcourt, or just had Reggie instead of Houston, who would have thought reggie would have been healthy at his age

Yeha I saw that, but he still picked a good player. His pick wasn't a bust, but obviously if he had to do it over, you don't pick Camby.

Ouch, that '97 draft wasn't anything pretty with the exception of Duncan.
