"Q: Will the Knicks trade anyone on draft night?

According to recent reports, there is a small possibility that the Knicks will try to move up by packaging a player along with their 8th pick in the draft. While it seems more likely that Marbury and Crawford will be retained and Ariza is not going anywhere; Isiah wouldn't mind packing Sweetney in a deal because he has a glut of undersized power forwards. There are teams (Atlanta, New Orleans, Milwaukee) in the top 6 who have size issues. While Milwaukee will probably not trade its first pick away, Atlanta or New Orleans might not have an issue with dropping a couple of picks down if they can get a good player or two out in addition to a decent lottery pick. The Knicks might deal some players in the off-season, but it is unlikely that that will take place until July when Free Agency starts."

Not a bad read at all. Just talks about what we might do with our picks (though this guy thinks Petro, Bynum, and even Warrick could be there at 30).

I think we'd have to include Sweetney and Ariza to move up. Personally, I'd rather just sit at 8.

I wouldn't mind packaging Sweetney and cash for another first round pick. To me, Sweetney and cash gets us a pick. Kurt and cash does not.

With the glut at PF, I would trade Sweeteny to get a taller more fit and athletic player like Warrick, Bynum, etc...

True. I'd like to save assets like Sweetney for any sign and trade deal.

Ther is no chance the bucks would take bodies, expiring contracts AND the 8 for the number 1?

Kurt, Penny and number 8?

Would you guys do that?

The article acknowledged, that but laid out the potential for teams with picks 2-4 being receptive to a trade. With Bogut, Williams, Paul and Green pretty much a lock for the top 4 picks I doubt those teams would trade either.

Frankly, I don't care about the first 4 picks. All I want is a trade to rid us of the current PFs that we have right now...I need a new approach when it comes to our frontcourt...Sweet is good, but I want something better. I want a beast, one that will demand the ball in the post, one that will put fear in people's heart, one with a mean streak...This draft, we can find that...I definitely don't want Kurt..

Honestly, I would be surprised if no team in the top 5 ends up trading their pick. Rumors out of Atlanta suggest that they would rather draft Deron Williams or Marvin Williams instead of drafting Chris Paul so they are willing to trade down. There have also been rumors that Portland likes Martell Webster more than they like Gerald Green and would like to move down in the draft.

Williams is epected to go #2 overall so Atlanta won't trade down if they want him.

I'm aware of that. I said that the rumor suggests that they would rather draft Marvin Williams than Paul meaning that if they can't trade down they would probably just draft Marvin at 2. If this rumor is true, it means that they would rather trade down so that they can draft Deron Williams (the PG they like) while also getting something else.

in regards to the rumor that Isiah is trying to trade up to get a chance at someone like Gerald Greene...if he manages that I'd be very satisfied...i don't care if he has to give up Sweetney to do it...we have another fat, undersized, unathletic role playing PF on this team anyway in Mo T.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

I trust Isiah when it comes to evaluating talent. Its his trades that are lame. If Isiah traded up to select Greene I would be pretty confident the kid will be a star or bigtime talent in the league

I agree. I like Sweetney a lot and as I think he can be a very good 6th man (as BRIGGS has said on a number of occassions) or even an above average starter at best. However, I don't think he will ever be the dominating force inside that we need. Green on the other hand, has future star written all over him. He could be our starting shooting guard for a long time.

I thought the Baker trade was the only Isiah trade that you really disliked.
