just got it off Uconn Insider. they were very impressed with him and with the absence of time, flew him in for a private workout session today. Im guessing the family will have to reimburse the Grizzlies if he goes to Uconn, but obviously I doubt that will happen.

Funny, somehow we will end up with Channing frye or Charlie Villenueva and Jerry West will nab Bynum.

or worse, we end up trading everything pick 8 Crawford Sweetney Ariza for Ray Allen.

Be afraid... be very afraid. Seriously, this scares me the most. Whether its Bynum or whoever I want some youth added to the roster.

Isiah has used the main assets over the last year and a half to add young players (Marbury at 26 and Crawford at 24 when the trades were made). He's also passed many times on players passed their primes (e.g., Webber). I expect that he'll add some veteran role players, but I also expect that the key assets (which obviously include the #8 pick) will continue to be used to add young players.

If Bynum agreed to a workout with Memphis at #19, then he obviously is still unsure of whether he'll be a lottery pick. I think that's a good sign that he'll at least probably be available for us at #8. And Isiah can take him if he thinks he is the BPA.

Isiah is too smart to pass on a guy like Bynum if he is available. the fact that this kid worked out for Memphis is a plus for the KNicks, because Isiah can just use the analogy or criticism to make his decision on that kid..

i think memphis is working him out, not at #19, but to trade UP w/a combo of jason williams or bonzi wells to get him in the lottery.

if bynum has skills, there is NO WAY in hell he drops out of the lottery, let alone pass us.

The only thing we did for the Bulls was take away a very good role player in JYD. They could have just let Jamal walk and they would have had three free roster spots instead of having to use roster spots on Mutombo (who was then traded), Othella, and Frank Williams. Don't confuse the notion Bulls' improvement with the notion that the Knicks had something to do with their improvement. The Suns improved a lot in the regular season, although they gave the Spurs a better challenge when Marbury was their PG. I don't really think it makes a difference for the Suns in the playoffs whether Nash, Marbury, Kidd, Baron Davis or any other star is their PG. I think they could have made it to at least round 3 with any of those PGs. What they really need is a center so they can move Amare down to PF and Marion to SF. We did help the Suns financially, I'll give you that, as they don't have to pay Penny. I couldn't care less about that, though. Layden helped the Nuggets a little. I'll give you that one too!

My goodness, Briggs!!!! I love when you talk about Bynum and other good prospects out there, but I HATE YOUR NEGATIVITY! We have enough with NY Knicks management! I believe in a God that can do anything, even giving one of our officials a brain good enough to pick Bynum or another good player. What about a little optimism for a change? If Isiah messes up the pick, then we can all chant "Fire Isiah!" and leave the Knicks behind. Don't declare such terrible things!

It's already been announced that the Knicks have a private workout scheduled with Bynum. Everyone take a deep breath. Three. More. Weeks.

So when's the early-entry withdrawal deadline anyway? Can't wait to see who's actually staying in the draft.

It's not negativity, it's sober realism. Neither Isiah nor Layden has given fans a reason to believe that they will take the long view when making moves. Instead, they have followed Dolan's dictum to try to make the playoffs every year at the expense of a strategy that would put them in a position to contend championships.

Isiah is the cap fairy of the NBA for every team but his own.

I don't know but taking Ariza (a 19 year old in the second round) could be viewed as thinking long term- the short term pick might have been to take an older, more matured player.

That's not going to happen. But he won't be picked before 8. He may go 10 to the Lakers, but they like Frye. No one will take Bynum higher than 8.

Portland is working him out, but that's probably because they're considering trading pick 3 to Charlotte for picks 5 and 13 so Charlotte can get Paul. Portland thinks they can get Green at 5 and Bynum at 13.

If that's so, why is it that teams will pass him by? What are they turned off by?

Uh he's 17, played HS ball against kids mostly 6'3" and probably has a statistically greater chance to turn into Oliver Miller or worse than he does of becoming the next shaq.

He's not ready, it's a total reach to take him in the lotto. Most NBA guys can't afford to risk their career on a project that will take three years to contribute. There are too many high profile guys that are easy to project as NBA players in the top 7. Also, the new perimeter D rules make perimeter players highly valuable.

To me, the only way Bynum goes higher than 8 is if some team trades up for him. I don't think the Knicks will take him either, honestly. I see him going 10-19.
