One thing that we already know is that the kid can score, and given the fact that he can block shots and rebound definitely give him a legup on Motumbo. I know that he has a lot to learn, but he is young and if he is willing to work in his game, he should have a much better career. The Knicks should draft Bynum if he is available, if not, they need to get Frye if he is on the board.., but with our 30th pick, they should draft either Petro if he is still around or Akindale..

now this is where it is starting to get ridiculous, you are comparing a 30th pick to an 8 time all-star who is going in the history books as a shotblocker/rebounder supreme. you have to think honestly if all this "potential" will blossom...

Hey, I only said that the kid has the potentials....Motumbo is a good player, but Akindale may get better.

No, actually you said he will be a much better player than Mutumbo. Its really not the same thing. BTW, Mutumbo was a great player, not a good one. You don't get in the HOF for just being good. Brad Miller is a good player. But I can't fault you for your excitement. Not being in the playoffs and waiting for the draft makes us all halucinate.

i agree, you can't compare them just yet. but if bynum is'nt there at 8, and there's nothing "big" and worth while i don't mind taking granger or wright and akindale at 30. i'm just not the type that likes to settle, so if we can't get what we need in terms of a center we get an athletic wing or sf. don't just pick up a big because he's big.

ditto to everything. And I also trust Isiah with the draft so whoever he picks I'll be fine with until the pick proves otherwise.

Mutombo won more defensive player of the year awards than anyone in the history of the game and was probably a top five defensive player in the game's history. You can't even compare a pre-NBA player to him.

yeah i kinda wonder about anyone who says that a player who hasn't played one NBA will be a much better person than a player that has been in the league and set his mark on the defensive end for years to come.

i can respect anyone saying it on the offensive end but not on the defensive end. Defense takes alot of work. these youngsters aren't built like that

and i don't care for mutombo at all

I don't remember many smart posters claiming that before he ever played an NBA game.

Actually, he was being compared to Magic Johnson, he is justifying that. However, LeBron is one of those once in a generation type players, so lets not even use LeBron as an example.

I have barely heard of this kid Akindale. I'm sure he could be a very good pro, but saying he will be much better than Mutombo is a little far fetched. The NBA game is a far far universe from college and high school, and this kid hasn't been that huge dominant force, if he's falling to 30, but is the next Mutombo? Come on. If he were, he'd be a top 3.

Yeah on planet Lebron, where he is set to go into the NBA finals, with his crew, sprite and that rip off of little "Penny", and new coach and gm. All is perfect in the world of Lebron.

um, i think he was being sarcastic.
anyway Pharzeone, i guess i understand that you really like akindele. so do i. but maybe phrases like "will be a much better player than motumbo" should be avoided. i don't know how long you've been watching basketball, but motumbo in his prime or even just past his prime was one of the best if not THE best shotblockers in the NBA. players would avoid him at all cost. this guy could change a game completly.
maybe something more along the lines of, he could be motumbo'ish'/ or maybe, he reminds me of motumbo but with offense. just think to yourself for a second how many players have dominated college ball and went on to the nba, got drafted high, got that multi-million dollar garanteed check, and did'nt do jack after that. point being is that you never know who's gonna do what.
Akindale will be a much better player than Motumbo....
