What the Knicks SHOULD do:
1.Trade Marbury and the #8 pick to Charlotte for the #5 and #13 pick

2.Trade Kurt Thomas, pick 3 30 and Spurs 2006 1st round pick to Memphis for Pau Gasol and the # 19 pick

3.Trade Tim Thomas to Orlando for Doug Christie and 2005 2nd round pick

4.Buyout Penny Hardaway

5 Sign Kwame Brown and Earl Watson

Draft Picks
#5: Gerald Green SG
#13: Raymond Felton/Chris Paul/ or Deron Williams PG (Best available)
#19: Channing Frye or Sean May
Magic Second pick: Julius Hodge SG/SF
#54: Ryan Gomes PF

Overview of all trades:
1.Charlotte gets a point gaurd to help build the franchise while the Knicks clear cap and get two lottery picks.

2.Memphis gets rid of draft pik and recieve a great defensive player while Knicks get rid of aging Thomas for young and athletic Gasol

3.Magic get rid of problem player in Christie and recieve Thomas who will be off the books in a year. The knicks get a defensive stopper

4. Get rid of aging player

5.These two signings will make the Knicks even younger

2006-2007 Roster:

PG-Felton,Paul or Williams/Watson
SG-Crawford/Hodge
SF-Ariza/JWilliams/Hodge
PF-Sweetney/Rose/Taylor/
C-Gasol/May or Frye
IL-Houston/Butler/Gomes

would be a great GREAT plan but unrealistic..if only Marbury wasn't so overpaid.

They'll draft Paul, Felton or Green and the same guy at 13 they'd get at 8 without having to pay Marbury a ridiculous $22mil per year.

If you're going for a star like Pau, keep Marbury; they'd play great together.

after carefully reading I would never trade #3 and the potential of drafting green, marvin or paul for gasol & 19

Maybury is not going to be traded ....forgetabout as long as Thomas is in charge. Trade #2 isn't enough to pry Gasol away.

I think you'd at least have to give Kurt and the no.8 to get Pau Gasol.

what's this fascination w/Pau Gasol all of a sudden? i'd rather just keep the pick & take the best player available than make that deal.

I'm not much of a Pau Gasol fan either. He puts up good #s, but he got schooled by Kurt Thomas every time I saw him against the Knicks, and he seems like a guy that needs to be motivated. That's Keith Van Hornish. His defense is also soft as hell and that's the last thing we need. We might as well go after Big Z instead, who I don't want at all, b/c at least he blocks some shots.
