Oohah here, First time poster, short time lurker.

I have been noticing that a lot of people posting in this forum want to draft Chris Taft...they must not have seen Lamont Hamilton eat his lunch at the garden this year.

He has the tools to be a good NBA player, but if he doesn't want to be, why take on his lazy (seeming) ass?

Check out this article on Draft City:

I wouldn't waste any pick on him 1-60

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

That's being extremely rash. While Taft might have taken himself out of top10 consideration he's still an extremely good prospect and just needs to be under the right tutalage. 6'10 260 frame with postup moves, ability to rebound and play defense is something you take a chance on. Whether or not its in the lottery, he still has the potential to be an extremely good player in this league.

Hmmm... maybe I would spend a 2nd rounder on him, but I am so tired of head cases. I don't know what he's like off the court, but on the court I have yet to see anything I like about Taft except for his physical potential, kind of like Tim Thomas II, except with less talent. Why waste years developing a guy who thinks he's already too good to have to play hard?

I guess I just don't like him.

After all that, Chris Taft has an agent and I'm sure he is reading everything that is being said about him. Even after that nothing seems to be different.

Maybe he is Tim Thomas II.....

This whole thing reminds me of when John Wallace came out of Syracuse. John Wallace took on a stacked Kentucky team basically by himself in the championship game. He was nasty throughout the tourney. I knew John Wallace was gonna be a great one but he slipped all the way down to the 18th pick for some reason. He might have slipped even lower if the Knicks didn't take him.

Tafts skills and potential is still worth a lottery pick. He has a few years before he can truly be labeled as much of a loser as Timmy.

you can do alot of growing up to do at 20 years old. Now Isiah may say go do it with another team, but if a guy with his upside for some reason fell to 30 it would be hard to pass on him. I dont see any way he gets past Denver. With Nene's pending FA having Taft in the pipeline would give Kiki leverage if nothing else

Taft seems right in the mold of IT players, lazy bums who IT thinks he can transform by his "leadership" skills. He is kike on of those battered women who keep going back thinking they can change their man and never learn lol.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

EnySpree, I'm not saying he's Tim Thomas yet... actually, I predict his career will not be as good as TT's. Maybe more like Stanley Roberts. (Who actually started out his NBA career decently.)

And the thing is, I would actually like to be wrong because I like it when NYC boys to do good, but I just don't see it in Taft.

I was surprised that John Wallace fell too, but from what I understood, that was based on his personal reputation and poor showings in pre-draft workouts. But on the other hand, unlike Taft he was a GREAT college player. One of the best players in Orangemen history, probably the best syracuse player since the Big East was born (Yes, better than Coleman.) until a guy named Carmelo Anthony came along, and I would have to think pretty hard about it, but I believe CA had better players on his side when he won the championship.
