Does anyone here think that Isiah might build the Knicks in Phil Jackson's image. I was thinking that it might be possible that the Knicks might draft based on what Phil wants on the Knicks. This may sound strange but Last night as I was watching the Spurs and Suns I was thinking. How can the Knicks be made so it influences Phil to be the coach of the KNicks. Well here it is.

First the Knicks select with the 8th pick and select Frye. Then the Knicks trade Crawford the 30th pick and get back Nene and 22 pick from the nuggets. The Knicks then sign Antonio Daniels with the MLE. So far so good. The Knicks then take Denver's 22 pick and package it with Sweetney to Hornets taking Green with the pick. The idea behind building the Knicks is to increase team length which should help in getting Phil to the KNicks. To start the season the Knicks field a lineup of:

Taylor pf
Ariza sf
Nene c
Daniels sg
Marbury g

Not bad. But by the middle of the season as the young players get their legs under them they make their move into the starting lineup.

By end of the season the lineup looks like this:

Ariza sf
Frye pf
Nene c
Green sg
Daniels g

Here is the shocker the Knicks trade Marbury as he doesn't fit Phils system for picks and expiring contracts.

This team with its length and athleticism definitely would make Phil consider the Knicks.

I don't think it's a good idea to think about drafting players to fit a coach that doesn't have the job yet.

Isiah has got to get a coach that can fit the style of play Isiah wants to bring to NY.

You are right but reguardless this team is still an upgrade for any other coach that comes in. You have 2 players that 7' you have a pass first pg in Daniels, Ariza and Green are athletic freaks. This is a nice young team with upside and will be fun to watch as they mature.

Just think for a second if the Hornets would really accept pick #22 and Michael Sweetney for their pick #4 and the potential of taking Gerald Greene

I don't mean that in a stuckup kinda way but the Hornets would be absolutely nuts to accept that deal.

Hornets will never do that trade cause Michael Sweetney isnt that valuable. He hasnt even been in a Rookie versus Sophomore game. Only people that value Sweetney is us knick fans because we are "hoping" that he can turn into a allstar someday.

P.S. If Phil Jackson was coming to N.Y. he would have had his second interview already and wouldnt be leaving multiple messages on Kobe's answering machine

I think they may consider it. Even if they don't there is still a lot for the knicks to choose from at 22. Webster, Granger may still be around at 22.

Agreed, forget about Carolina giving up that pick it's not happening. Otherwise your plan seems sound.

I see all these plans, package this pick and this player to get pick # and player X - then make another trade to get player Y and pick # blah blah blah - while these are all great ideas - have you EVER seen an offseason by one team that has been THAT active? While I think a trade is possible, I dont see 2-3 trades and MLE signings etc happening. There will be a small amount of movement, hoepfully for an impact player but I doubt anything more then that.

Plus why would Isiah want to put all of his stock into 1 draft? This one may be deep but remember a draft is a gamble and you dont know how the players will pan out. 5 picks in one draft doesnt gurantee your team will improve.

Phil Jackson would never agree to coach an undertalented team in salary cap hell.
