It's 5 weeks now since I had reconstructive surgery on my fully torn left ACL.

No pain finally. The knee is still very tender and it still buckles because it's not strong enough yet. It hurts when it buckles. It's more like my muscles reacting when I step down on it. Not a good feeling at all.

I have full range of motion which is great since I have only been going to physical therapy for 2 weeks. My leg is constantly stiff. I've been walking around the house without a cane but I have to talk my way through every step. I'm still walking the streets with a cane. At least I can sit down now comfortably with my knees bent like normal.

My therapist just started me on a bike now for 5 minute stints, as well as walking backwards and forwards for 5 minute stints. I got the leg press going with like 2-5 lbs too.

I've been working out everyday. I'm trying to get my leg loose so the stretching my therapist does to me doesn't kill me.

Everyone at the physical therapy place says I'm doing better than expected. I'm coming along fast. My therapist thinks it might be too fast. He's been trying to challenge me but I've been doing everything he's told me to do with no problem.

It's coming along. It's been an interesting experience so far. I just wish I can run! When I'm healed up I'm gonna be like Forrest Gump! My Goal is to definately be able to grab the rim again. I haven't done that in over a year cuz my knee has been acting up so long.

Just an update for anybody wanting to know what atheletes go through after ACL surgery. I'll give another update in a few weeks.

I myself had a different kind of injury. Playing b-ball on Feb, I ruptured my patella tendon..

It's the ligament connected above the kneecap. I had surgery on feb 22nd and still recovering from this major type of knee surgery.

My knee swelled up and was not able to bend it since.. I've been in therapy since 4/7/05. It is now may 29th and i finally can bend the knee 120 degrees.

On the bike, i can also peddle fully but not to fast..

My Quad had shrunk and will take about 6 mos for it to come back. Doctor told me i am out for the season related to any sports activities such as basketball or baseball/softball.

My doctor works for the New Jersey Nets... He was Kidd's therapist when Kidd had surgery early last yr..

He said I should be up and running sometime in 2006.. Can't Wait!!!

I think McDyess might've tore his patella tendon while playing with Denver but with the Knicks he slightly broke his patella, the kneecap bone..

My therapist said with this Patella tendon tear injury, a professional ballplayer would never play the same level again.. Maybe, wouldn't come back..

ouch.....I feel for you obviously.

Are you playing a sport professionally?

I'm not but I was trying to work my way back into 20 year old shape, lol. At least then I could see if I can get into some tournaments during the summer. So I thought.

Listen to your therapist. Those guys have seen all types of injuries so they know what's what. As soon as I'm ready I'm gonna be a gym rat. I'll be in the weight room religiously and I'll be ready for the New Year in January.

I hope I can get my legs strong enough to grab the rim again......with two hands....maybe dunk a volley ball. That would be sweet.
