I stole this from a guy on RealGm
http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?p=5432404#5432404
Knicks Lose:
Kurt Thomas
Tim Thomas
$3 Million

Knicks Get:
Lorenzen Wright
Sam Cassell
Brian Cardinal
Memphis 1st Round Pick

The Knicks get a real center, a good backup PG (or can cut him and his expiring deal if he doesn't except role), and a tough hardnosed player in Cardinal. The Knicks also acquire Memphis' pick. Some people may not want Cardinal and his big contract, but he is exactly what the Knicks need. He does all the little things that Tim Thomas doesn't do. He would fire up the rest of the team to play harder. The Knicks rotation:
C: Wright/Taft (#icon_cool.gif/ Blatche or Petro (Memphis Pick)
PF: Sweetney/Rose/Taylor
SF: Ariza/Cardinal/JYD
SG: Crawford/Houston (Stoudamire with #30)
PG: Marbury/Cassell

Grizz Lose:
Lorenzen Wright
Jason Williams
Brian Cardinal
1st Round Pick

Grizz Get:
Tim Thomas
Michael Olowokandi
Ndudi Ebi
$3 Million from NY

The Grizz are losing money and need to do something fast. This deal saves them a ton of cash as they get rid of some of their longest deals and bring in expiring deals, a young promising player, and cash. Olowokandi could also post big numbers in his contract year (see his final 2 years in LAC). Their lineup:
C: Olowokandi
PF: Gasol
SF: Miller
SG: Posey
PG: Watson (?)

Wolves Lose:
Sam Cassell
Michael Olowokandi
Ndudi Ebi

Wolves Get:
Kurt Thomas
Jason Williams

The Wolves get major upgrades at the PG and Center positions in this deal. Their lineup would be much better for the upcoming season.
C: Kurt
PF: KG
SF: Szczerbiak
SG: Hassell
PG: Williams

What do you guys think? I would love it as a Knicks fan.

Important things to note:

Lorenzen and Sam expire at the end of 05/06 just like TT so money isn't an issue, the important thing iswe may keep lorenzen, he is a decent center.

Brian Cardinal is 27 and is a good shooter all the way to 3.
For us this trade is basically 2 seperate trades:

KT (32) for Brian Cardinal (a white version of KT hardworker less rebounds, at age 27)+ #19 pick.
TT for Sam + Lorenzen (we get to look at Lorenzen and Sam is a great backup to have at PG, it doesn't get any better than that.)

I like it.

Way too one sided for the Knicks. Memphis wouldn't include those players in the deal AND their #1.

For Memphis it is purely economics, the rid themselves of two long contracts in Brian Cardinal and Jayson Williams + 3 million cash. They have cleared cap space and they need to do that in a tiny market like Memphis.

Everyone loves to say that, but i don't know how else they get rid of their players with big contracts for expiring contracts. I can't see it.
