One of two trades...
TT, pick #30 for Jalen Rose and pick #7
2006 Knicks #1 and $2mm for pick #16 (Tor)

It would be hard for Tor to turn down those deals...

Finally offer $2mm and pick #54 for #19 (Griz)

Build for the future.. but with Marbury, Crawford, Malik, KT, Mo T, Sweetney and the rest we will still have a shot at the playoffs.

I don't think Toronto would trade their top two picks, then it looks like they got nothing for Vince.

I think Memphis and Denver are good targets for pick shopping. Offer either team $3million for one of their picks and not only do they get the money, but they get the cap space that they covet more than another young player. at 19/20, Bynum or Blatche or maybe Frye or Warrick becomes a possibility, and it's possible to trade up from there.

I like the idea of trading Penny straight up for Jalen. Maybe Toronto gives us their second rounder (38) and we take Nate Robinson, but I don't think they'll give up a first rounder, they're in the midst of a youth movement and they need lots of help.

I'm not adverse to a trade for another 1st rd pick this year, but under no circumstances do I trade away our 2006 #1 pick.

Look at this from Toronto's view.

http://www.hoopshype.com/salaries/toronto.htm

If they can get Jalen's $16+ mm off the books for 06-07 they will have about $20mm in cap space BEFORE Bosh becomes a FA. When you look around the league the teams that have built successfully procure a franchise caliber talent in a rookie contract, then add a high caliber FA or trade using cap space BEFORE that rookie's deal is up.

Its not the $17mm we save them for taking on Jalen's deal, its also the flexibility it gives them afterwards. If I am Toronto I'm saying where do I sign? I can draft a guy like Webster at 16, go with TT as my 3 for a year, have a decent pick next year and be in position to max money or take on max money in a trade. Thats a no brainer for Tor.

why? A pick is a pick. Did it backfire for Chi?

If the Knicks were only one or two players away from a serious contender I might think about but they're not. Any immediate help from this year's draft questionable. The Knicks are going to a need another year or two of talent infusion before they can go far in the playoffs. Suppose Maybury goes down with an injury, the Knicks chances of returning to the lottery are too great for me to consider trading away any future #1 pick unless perhaps it was lottery protected.

But the problem is, Toronto is going to have a new GM and he's going to want to make a splash in the draft. That team needs talent everywhere.

Perhaps we can acquire Alston and Jalen and 16 for something like Penny and Sweetney and cash, but I don't see them giving up on a lotto pick.

What are we? the garbage can for everyteam in the league???? I am sorry, we can do better with our expiring contracts...Under no circomstance that we should trade an expiring contract for another bad contract like Jalen's....Under no circomstances

If they want to trade with us, they will have to offer us a much better package...We don't need their pick that badly....Have you seen Jalen's contract???

MEM won't simply sell us their pick...they would be willing to package it to unload J. Will's contract however.

Jalen's contract is a year longer, expires the same time as H20 which is a really good thing. He also is still a good lpayer who could do a number of things for us that we don't currently have. He's clutch and he is a good shooter. We don't have too many shooters on the squad right now. I'd do it, especially if it got us a pick.

I would love to get Jalen. I think he's a perfect fit personality and skill-set-wise for this team.

- trade TT, the #30 & a future 1st rounder to TOR for Jalen Rose & the #7
- trade KT & cash for J. Will & the #19
- sign Dan Gadzuric w/the full MLE (or Chris Anderson w/a portion as plan B)

#7 - Greene
#8 - Taft
#19 - Warrick

C - Taft / Gadzuric or Anderson
PF - Warrick / Sweetney / Rose
SF - Greene / Ariza / JYD
SG - Crawford / Rose
PG - Marbury / J. Will
IR - Houston / Mo T / Butler

i'll take that exciting brand of basketball for a couple years while we build towards a championship.

Sorry, but the 2006 (or later if it is too low) pick is promised to Phoenix to satisfy the Steph trade. The Knicks can't trade it right now.

I will co-sign this idea.

That roster would make teams lace up their sneakers a little tighter when they face the Knicks.

I dunno if I'd line them up that way but still...personel wise? It's simply beautiful. Practice would be intense year round.

JWill and Marburry together???? Dudes, JWill is a starter in this league, why would he consider coming to N.Y while other teams around the league are hurting for a PG??? LA needs a PG, the Bobcats needs a PG, Dallas needs a PG....

Those teams are already set at point guard. LA could draft one. The Bobcats are definately going to be in position to get a good point guard. Dallas has Devon Harris for christ sakes.

J-Will is a good player but he can't seem to get a coach to trust him enough to let him play true starters minutes. Fine.....we got Marbs and J-Will could come here and play his same role yet bring that energy off the bench. That would make the TEAM better and if training camp and pre-season show him that the team is effective and could win? He will not make a peep. Winning cures all wounds.

You have a different attitude about playing time when you go in a good situation like the Spurs, Mav, Det, Phoenix, Miami....Those teams are already set and good to go with a chance at wining a championship....You must have forgotten what our records was last season.....We are a lottery team dudes....lottery.
