you know what? maybe it's time we all came to terms with Taft. He's a huge body. He has a good back to the basket game. He can be a great shotblocker. He did dog it a little, but part of that was his coach and a PG looking for his own shot. Maybe this guy isn't the final answer, just a very good piece to a puzzle. I want Warrick more and like Frye better, but, hey, I'll admit I didn't love Nene either.

I admit Taft, in theory, is what we need. His potential is what we need, but i'm afraid of what we will actually get from him. He's a high risk but high reward player. I am fine with either him or Warrick if we get a forward.

Whether or not the Knicks take Taft, I honestly think he will make teams pay for not taking him. I have problems with his work ethic but the same was said about Stoudamire who scouts said was a horrible risk. He has all the tools to be a force in the NBA especially with this zone defense now.

As most on this board know, I have been extremely high on Taft since Day-One. After last year Taft was a Top3 pick this year no-doubt but Chris went through what most college players go through; which is a sophmore slump. The Pitt offense is not designed to be run through Forwards but instead it is run through the PG Carl Krauser, which also hurt Chris. I've seen Chris play alot and I know that if the Knicks take him they will get solid defense and rebounding from him in his first 2 years. His offensive game isn't the greatest but its not bad, he has a decent shot and pretty good postup moves. I don't like the comparisons to Chris Wilcox becuase I think Taft is better then him and if we let Agquirre and Isiah work with him I think he will be a very good pro. Several All-Star appearances are in his future.

Not only is he lazy, but he doesn't have the upside that people on this site thinks he has.

#1 - He doesn't have the hops that you see in elite prospects.
#2 - He can't shoot.

Re: what we need....what we don't need is to add yet another power forward. I'd rather Granger, Warrick, Green or even Webster, Bynum.

sorry, but I agree. He's a big body but even guys with limited skills and his build dominate their competition. He didnt. When you see guys like Boozer, May, Sweetney and Tractor dominate at that level and then a guy like Taft who cant score you scratch your head a little.

I would rather take a shot on a guy like Blatche who I know has great skills and is nasty on the boards, and work on his body.

I'm intruigued with Blatche too, but I'm curious if you'd take him over Bynum.

Shoot, let's pray that all of these young 6'10+ are still on the board when it comes time for us to pick. Let's also pray that Isiah finds a home for Kurt, Mo, and Malik....I would even trade Sweetney for the right price...But who will trade for an overweight Sweetney???

I just want Kurt out of town...

I dont know enough about either to give you a solid appraisel. Maybe if I took Chad's class and saw them both workout I could give you a better idea :)
Bynam is all over the place. Some say franchise caliber upside, others late first round project status. I do know that Sam Dalembert fell into the late first round project status and Bynam is said to be much more skilled than he was so take that for what its worth. To be honest I would be happy with either. I have a feeling Blatche (who's listed in the 15-25 range for most) will be in the top 10 on every moch by draft day. He reminds me an awfull lot of Bosh. Thin and wirey but good skills and a great rebounder. He IS tough... but remember he was a PG so its natural he's more comfortable on perimeter. Thats where he started. Still... 7 footers with PG skills that are great on the boards are an ok thing to have. Right now I think of him a Toni Kukoc type that will be a double digit rebounder, or essentially a poor man's Dirk/Garnett type. I hate to use those two because they are stars, and who knows what kind of drive a player will have. I dont picture Blatche as a typical 7 foot post scorer, but potentially as a high post player that you can run an offense through like Dirk and Garnett. Top of the key, at the elbow type of guy.

I'm all for getting Chris Taft. I think with Portland and the Bucks getting higher picks Taft might fall into our lap.

What I like about him is his post moves. He has them already. He just would need polish and confidence to get it done at the pro level. He's strong already but he looks like he could get even bigger. That to me is scary.

I already compared him to Chris Bosh. I think we won't be able to keep Taft on the bench too long.

The thing with this draft is there is alot of NBA talent. Maybe not all-stars yet but they are alot of skilled players. I just hope Isiah can get another pick

yeah, I was trying to make myself feel better last night, but I really don't want this fat pig. I want Frye, Blatche, Bynum or Warrick.

Fat pig, lol. Geez man you are brutal.

The kid is muscular. You can see it in those pics you posted. He can definately get more solid and gain more muscle weight.

I'm greedy man. I think Isiah needs to push KT on someone and try to get another first round pick. I would love the idea of getting Taft at #8 and Warrick with a mid-round pick, then hope either Blatche or Bynum fall to #30. That would be awesome.

Taft is still not a bad option imho. If they come to a decision that chris Taft is the best fit both short and LONg term for the Knicks, I live with it and will feel good that we didnt trade the pick for short term gratification.

BUt I dont want to draft for short term gratification either. Just because Chris is more advanced than other bigs today, they must project tomorrow. Its not about next year

I agree with you. Getting Taft is good for us now and in the long term. You can further fortify the pick with either Morris, Bynum, or Frye at 30. What would really be a coup for us wouldbe if IT is able to get an extra pick. I really do hope that Memphis is shopping their pick and that we can acquire it from them. I want Warrick and if we can that pick and he is available, that would be beautiful.
